It's probably not practical for them to devote resources to manually building duplicates of characters onto one of the PC servers. It took days for them to do it for each character with the low volume of requests that they received for test server.

All kidding aside, this seems the best guess.

Technically that wasn't a transfer. They manually recreated your character on the test server, which is why it took so long between request and implementation and why they made no guarantees that your request would be granted or that stuff wouldn't be missing or messed up on the copy of your character or that they would do anything to fix any defects in the copy of your character if something was wrong with it.

I don't think "recreated" is the right term for it. I'm sure they copied the code and made some tweaks to it.

Cant be done. Last October i converted from xbox to pc and they said it cant be done so i had to start over again.

Well to be fair, depending how the stuff is set up there is quite a bit that could get screwed up with the character.
You don't have to worry about screwing up a players character on a test server.

If it's just resources, slap on a price tag, it's a server transfer, a lot of MMO's charge or server transfers.
That kind of monetization i wouldn't hold against Trion.

On the brighter side you can have 18 characters instead of just three.

They also told us before that we would never be able to re roll our weapon mastery bonuses. So there is still some hope for the future. Just because they can't figure out and easy way to do it now doesn't they won't some time later. If the game survives another year, moving characters to the PC platform will probably get bumped up the priority list. The 360 and PS3 will become even more obsolete with the new consoles out.
