Why wouldn't we? As the industry currently stands, manipulative and anti-consumer microtransaction shenanigans are the rule, not the exception. The fact that Defiance itself features microtransactions AND DLC at the very least puts it under the microscope. There's absolutely nothing wrong with being concerned about this, because as things are right now, that concern is valid.

Side note: Saying that you'll find things for free in the game is a bit disingenuous when the game costs $60. You'll find things that are included with your purchase. I still don't understand the need to a cash shop on top of DLC as typically the cash shop exists to cover the costs of future development, not just to siphon off more cash while you continue to sell updates. My only theory at the moment is we're subsidizing the cost of updating on Xbox Live (which is expensive and doesn't approve of "free updates") which seems a bit unfair to other platforms.

But if you are indeed able to purchase things like item slots, then i'm sure you would have plenty of room. More inventory space will always be needed. Even if i had 1,000 slots, i'd fill them in 2 days.

So if you are a pack rat such as i am, then you could purchase more space if you felt compelled.
But it's not gonna be like "OMG I NEEDZ MORE BAGZ SLOTZ!!!!"

I just think your worrying to much about it
Agreed. Give all the bag space in the world. I still want more, lol

But really don't worry about it yet. Keep checking the streams, and don't buy the game until you're sure it's what you want.

Even so, people complaining over how you may be able to buy extra slots is idiotic. Thoes extra slots aren't needed. Nobody is forcing someone to buy them. Don't need em, don't buy em.

    It's quite simple really.
I used to be an eager Ark Hunter like you, then i took a "soon" to the ear.

I believe the concern is being goaded into them rather than having the option. Nobody is going to complain if there are ample slots and you can purchase more if needed. They will complain if you start off with barely enough to carry anything, and are essentially being nagged to buy more every time you pick up loot. There are plenty of F2P games that pull this crap with putting low stack numbers on items or adding lots of "junk" loot for no other reason than to clutter up inventory and try to get you to buy more space. Allods was notorious for this as you started with almost no space and bag upgrades were exceptionally expensive.

Obviously, we won't know until the NDA is lifted and people can comment on it, but as I said in an earlier post, this kind of stuff is currently the norm, not the exception, so I understand the concern.

making peoples pay 60 $ for the game and limite their inventory space where they feel force to spend some more money is kinda creepy to me at least if trion want to force us to pay some $ make the game a true F2P not a game where you pay for the game and then for everything into the game

    Hope iam wrong on thats
It depends on how it is done. Take GW2 which is also a B2P game. You have inventory expandable though bags on your toon itself with one more slot you can purchuse to unlock for another bag. But even then you get off hand 5 slots I beleive. That gets upgraded as you upgrade you bags.

Then there is the bank. Your bank, which I wish someone had explained earlier to me, is actually two banks. One is your generic "anything can go here" bank that is shared between your various characters. Then you had your "collectables" which went to their own tabs and slots and were kept nice and organized. This was where your metals and gems went for example and were easy to to find. Now you still were going to run out of space in the bank because of all the buffs, enchantments, and junk you might want to keep piled up. For a modest fee you could expand that bank, but with all that you still started off with a fair bit of space.

This is the kind of system I hope to see in Defiance. But no idea if we are going to have incentives for more then one character, what our space needs might be, or any of that stuff. So it might be one of those things we have to trust beta players to give good feedback on and Trion to listen too. But I don't think it is one of the areas that we are going to get nickel and dimed to death over...I hope.

I would if they didn't have Time Warner and Comcast listed as investors. They managed to put me off of Rift (Trion's choices, not the investors) which I was a big fan of which doesn't help matters. They occupy that space of "companies I wish I could like more than I do but can't quite get behind". Their livestreams for example feel more like a daytime shopping channel than an informal community event.
