Why wouldn't we? As the industry currently stands, manipulative and anti-consumer microtransaction shenanigans are the rule, not the exception. The fact that Defiance itself features microtransactions AND DLC at the very least puts it under the microscope. There's absolutely nothing wrong with being concerned about this, because as things are right now, that concern is valid.
Side note: Saying that you'll find things for free in the game is a bit disingenuous when the game costs $60. You'll find things that are included with your purchase. I still don't understand the need to a cash shop on top of DLC as typically the cash shop exists to cover the costs of future development, not just to siphon off more cash while you continue to sell updates. My only theory at the moment is we're subsidizing the cost of updating on Xbox Live (which is expensive and doesn't approve of "free updates") which seems a bit unfair to other platforms.
