    add melee type gear?

I was thinking maybe we could have some sort of Melee build? With different type of bladed weapons, and specific shields for melee(increases Health, but drastically increases the shield charge delay, and grenade cooldown, has an X % to heal health on melee kills? something like that).

Maybe this has the ability to break the game, as it would not use ammo, and thus making arkfalls less tense. Maybe the blades can have a durability bar that when depleted will be dulled(not useable, but not discarded), picking up ammo would pick up grinding stones to sharpen the weapons by a certain percent. Making it a high risk vs high rewards type of deal?

Added with blur for powerful rushing attack that has an arc that will inflict exclusive bleed damage(for blades only) to surrounding enemies within the radius of the attack.
Added with cloak for an X% chance to instantly kill infantry type enemies(captains, generals, elite versions of enemies are not affected).
Added with overcharge would make your attacks stronger, but your speed slower to compensate for the excessive damage they could do(on par with a full clip of bullet damage so it is not over abused).
Added with Decoy could increase your chance of a critical by X for every enemies that is focused on the decoy.

Obviously this is fruit for thought later on down the road once the servers, and other goals have ben reached by the devs.
These are just my thoughts, and I would like to hear everyones opinion about this. What do you the defiance forum members think?

Maybe it is impossible to add these to the games code without wrecking havoc on it, but i still think it could be something worth talking about.

This has been asked several times before. It wont happen. The devs siad they want this to be a 100% total shooter, and thus they said no melee weapons other than the temporary ones will be in the game.

I think some accessories that enhance your F button melee would be cool, at least. Like spiked knuckles/armblades/claws, or energy based things. Not an actual weapon, but something to spice up your situational melee (and also make you look like a badass with a weapon on your arm).

You can make a melee build. Find a real nice auto-shotgun that has melee stat bonuses that you want, put in some melee oriented mods, and go to town.

If you want special animations with swords or some crap... ugh. Well I can see why you'd want it, it could be fun, but really its not what the game is about.

I might make a melee type setup at some point myself just because its interesting. I don't think it does a ton of damage, but with the right setup it might... there are some seriously big bonuses to melee damage around.

Your best bet would be to focus on melee mods and perks. Not sure how good your melee would get though. Otherwise, shotguns.

I do remember there is a punching type weapon in one of the main quest but alas it's only specific for that quest only AFAIK. Too overpowered to be use outside of that quest, I guess. Even if there is no melee build specifically, I do wish for at least some form of alternative to pistol whip/butt stroke animations like using knife, sword, baseball bat, metal pipe & etc.

One of the four powers is completely centered around melee, so...

I understand the whole shooter thing. I just thought it could make things interesting, besides hide behind cover and shoot. Some mobs beg to be rushed with melee, but the one swing every 2 seconds is not a viable melee build.

I am not saying this game NEEDS it, just something to think about./ As for the GW 2 thing, not everyone has a super PC that can run it.
