The increases above 5500 are very marginal. There are plenty of threads about that. I believe Fuzzle and Tekrunner have the numbers somewhere. So it's good to stop around 5500 with gear levelups for now, unless you REALLY need that marginal increase. I am sure somebody will probably come in and point you to the right thread about it though. I would but am too tired to dig through the threads and find it for you.

Reeco was pointing out that the IV is better then the V because they have identical stats (baring the few points from ego difference) because the IV also has fire resistance.

I doubt T.D. is willing to take a stab at any kind of answer for this, knowing we'd probably all claw his eyes out again...

If they ever do fix shields at all I'm betting it will be one of those ninja patches so they don't ever have to acknowledge the fact that it was a MISTAKE, not a typo...revisionist history is so fun!

old system
hurricane anything 4 ex - 70% recharge WITH nano resistance
hurricane anything 5 ex - 75% recharge WITHOUT nano resistance

this led to a choice between having a resistance or a 5% increase in recharge rate

new system
hurricane anything 4 ex - 90% recharge WITH nano resistance
hurricane anything 5 ex - 90% recharge WITHOUT nano resistance

the 5 ex is actually an inferior shield to the 4 ex. every stat at matching ego levels is exactly the same except for the nano resistance included on 4 ex shields.

hmmmmm, that "Let's talk shields shall we" post that TD made certainly made it seem this was intentional.

The fact that every single follow up reply to that post was ignored certainly made it seem intentional.

So what changed? Did we point it out the magic number of times that reverses intentions?

I should have clarified. They should have both a cap and an armor increase, from what I understand.
