in my opinion the general gaming community - console gamers especially - have no business whining about short games.

not when call of duty garbage sells 50 million copies with a 4 hour campaign at 60 dollars each and wants another 50 dollars for a season pass

Actually what was even worse was the Terminator Salvation game. If I remember right, reviewers didn't have a problem with the game itself, but it only lasted 5 hours and had no replay value since it was only a campaign and no challenge modes or online play.

Oh yeah I remember that one it is actually better than that Harry Potter one though still since Joe said it was like 2 hrs and 56 minutes for the second game I think.

I remember reading threads like that about Skyrim. You can race through a lot of games quickly. But why? Take your time and enjoy it. It's meant to be fun.

MMO + short = does not make since...

    MMO's are endless

None of you have finished all the current content. Just doing the story and episode missions don't count. There's tons of side missions, tons of stuff to do for pursuits, outfits to unlock, all sorts of stuff.

Don't put any stock in what the people who claim they've beaten Defiance say.

^This. As much as I was enjoying this game, finding out that there's pretty much just 1 map in the entire game made me cringe. Talk about a lazy dev team. I even played Rift! I know what Trion is capable of! However, this game seems to be tied too well to the TV show for them to just dump out content (if they even have any).

Also at the DLC comment earlier: What the HELL do you mean bioshock isn't going to have DLCs? It's BIOSHOCK BRO! They'll charge you for a DLC involving pocket lint if they thought it would make them a few dollars.

On that note btw, why would the promise of DLCs entice you to buy a game in the first place? First we pay $60 for a decent game that's about 10 hours long (of solo game play)...and then they charge us for the next few content patches? LOOOOOOOOOOOL if $60 got us one ****ty map I cant WAIT to see the look on your faces when you realize that most DLCs in every game is usually worth about 1h of new content IF that.

    ^ This.

I have 20+ hrs played and I am still in Madera. Why because before leaving Mt. Tam I made sure to complete all the pursuits. So far in Madera I have been making sure that I do every single challenge, side mission and pursuit as well. Hell I even stop all the time at the little events popping up all over. I have even partaked in some co-op missions and PvP. Doing things like this adds sooooo much more play time. I am making damn sure I get my moneys worth out of this game.

I paid $60 for Fallout 3 and NV and each of those provided me with a minimum of 111 hours of playtime for EACH CHARACTER.
^I'm not EVEN going to bring up Skyrim

I paid $60 for Defiance and got robbed!

Sorry, I'm just not convinced that Trion was even trying this time.

Side note: My Rift playtime was 503 hours. THAT'S how long someone should be able to play an MMO before they run out of content or get bored of it....instead of just a weekend.
