I paid $60 for Defiance and got robbed!

Sorry, I'm just not convinced that Trion was even trying this time.

Side note: My Rift playtime was 503 hours. THAT'S how long someone should be able to play an MMO before they run out of content or get bored of it....instead of just a weekend.
Did you put that 503 hours in during launch week? No. Rift had to have been patched multiple times adding more content before you made it to that 503 mark. The game has been out for three days, give it time. They are releasing alongside a show which they are planning on adding new missions to the game with every new episode of the show.

This is what I did but so far I've only completed 27/104 Done and I'm ego rating 600 finished the main storyline and still having a blast. I don't know why people complain about it being short you have 4 chars do it 4 times lol.

I remember when Star Trek Online first launched it was very easy to level to max very fast and not much endgame content, these days it takes forever and there is still very little endgame.

Defiance seems to be taking longer to level and I can see some good endgame and I have not hit the end of the game yet as it were xD

Yeahhhhh....I'm done with this topic...none of you are actually providing me with any data/examples other than your insults and assumptions. Games like this go F2P in a few months if nothing is done about it. I'll still play the game, but I'm not gonna waste my time on a community this determined to drive this game into the ground.
Which games? Please provide this extensive list of MMOs that have gone F2P in "a few months". Ill give you hint to help you out. Possibly 1. All others which have made the conversion were up at least 1 full year before converting to F2P. The majority of them which converted were up for several years before converting. Only a dozen or so have actually made the conversion period.

People like you who think every game goes F2P just because <5% of the P2P MMOs on the market have converted to F2P are so entertaining. You remind me of the people who actually believe stuff like WoW was the 1st MMO just because someone somewhere on the internet claimed it was so and they dont have enough experience to know any better.

No DLC coming anytime soon .
Great game but now what do you do? Play it over and over.

Now here is defiance and some people say they are finished after 12+ hours... Well only of you have capped your EGO, and even then the game is not over. it never ends in a sense because it is an online game that continues.
DLC will be coming very soon , maybe 2 weeks, maybe sooner, with more each month.

This is not your basic shooter, it is a MMO shooter that will continue forward, not stay stagnate and have you replay the same stuff over and over.
Content will be new and plentyful.

You are comparing this crap heap to Bioshock Infinite?

Defiance has been in development for going on 5 years. Approximately the same dev time as Bioshock Infinite. Granted that Defiance is a larger scale game but it has Trion backing. The same company that published Rift. I expected better from this game by launch. There are some pretty GAME BREAKiNG bugs like characters randomly deleted and items missing. I paid 60$ (more like 150 because I bought the Ultimate) for this game. Assuming we carry the $60 value (and not the 150$) I don't feel like I got my moneys worth and I have been playing a LOT.

This is a game that has great potential and it's gonna capitalize on our first purchases and then fail to deliver if they do not start making fixes ASAP. Little things like keybinds randomly defaulting should have been done away with months ago. I was in the beta and know people who were in the alpha. These issues have been here for MONTHS and not even so much as acknowledgment that they are there.

Now, I AM a Bioshock fanboy, by definition. However, that does not make my point any less valid. This game is not worth $60 in it's current form. I would recommend ANYONE purchase Bioshock Infinite over this ANY DAY.

I give them 3 months to get their act together and then I'm heading back to another MMO. Three months is a generous period of time all things considered. In those three months I won't be buying anything from the shop, of course. And I expect the 480 Bits worth of Lockboxes that disappeared from my inventory (no its not in the claim list, no it hasn't miraculously reappeared, and NO there has not been an answer to my ticket) to be reimbursed. Real currency is not something that should be screwing up on day 4 if they intend to make any money.

While I believe the comparison to Bioshock seemed terrible as these are two completely different genres I believe that having your expectations so high because Trion made Rift seems a bit unfair. Trion made other games besides Rift. Rift was their biggest one that stood out. Rift was a sleeper title that ended up being better than expected. Trion is trying something new, so it wouldn't be compared to rift, which is commendable. The issues are being fixed with each patch, and every MMO is bumpy. I have lost data in every mmo I've played due to bugs. When you play MMOs you have to expect these things to happen. The first few days especially have been bad, considering everyone's having issues with completely different things.

I'm sure that within time that this game will get better, because as you said, They made Rift, and look what they improved in the first few months of that game.

I love love LOVE how people are arguing with each other about their subjective experiences and own personal opinions, as if they are facts. Then again, this is what internet forums are built for

To the person who directly said, "IT'S THE SAME THING OVER AND OVER AGAIN," (and the many that echo him in thoughts):

Welcome to MMO's. I know this isn't your first, but it sure sounds like it.

That's the problems with MMO's - it's a form of game rooted in "addiction-based gaming."

And people play these things way longer than they actually have fun with them.

On topic: Sure, as consumers and avid gamers, we expect certain things - some which Trion got right, and some they got wrong, but in general, it's not Trion's fault you dedicated the last 48 hours of your life completing the current campaign of this game with out ever leaving your desk.

Defiance is what it is: a neater looking borderlands, a TPS with some MMO and RPG type elements, but it excels at none of these.

It has some good writing and some bad writing. It has pros and cons, like any good game.

The problem with MMO's are people's expectations, and the fact that the bar has been set quite high,

but let me put it like this:

I started playing MMO's years ago in Vanilla EQ, killing giant rats.

That was many years ago, and I'm still killing giant rats. Sure, the skins change, the loot changes, but the premise is still there...

With MMO's, they're usually unoriginal, the stories usually suck, the writing is usually bad, and it turns into an inevitable grind for something or another...

Now, do you really want the game to go on forever, or do you want to have some fun with it?

If you keep treating these things like races to the top (which you do, and which they are), you will never be satisfied, and if so, not for long.

And if you feel the urge to stop playing (this or any MMO). Good for you. Get out of here, and never come back. Enjoy your life

dont fly through the content just so you can cater to your epeen. If you played beta you knew how easy the content is.. I can see someone grinding through this in one sitting no doubt about it..

    its all about moderation

nowhere near 15 hours on Bioshock on normal. Not even close. And I explored nearly everywhere, only missing 8 of the data recorders on the first run through. Feel no real need to run it again this quick though.

As to beating defiance this quickly...an MMO is never really "beaten". They may have completed all the story missions, they may have even completed all the side missions (well...the ONE side mission repeated a few hundred times) but if they haven't reach max ego, they haven't beaten squat,

Likewise for 360 players..if they haven't gotten all achievements, they haven't beaten anything.

Who is complaining about it being short?....
Its freaking huge and a big time sink. They must think completing the main story line in an MMO means something.... And skipped 80% of all other quests. Be glad this game will probably have more story updates then anything MMO before do to the show. And Trion is crazy good about new content weekly and monthly...
This is an MMO; not meant for your single player entertainment...(Its for what ever you want but complaining about it from that PoV is asinine...) I.e has no business even being compared to BSI... Btw it was for sale everywhere from 35-45 dollars...

You don't "beat" MMOs lol.... They are meant to be persistent sandboxes with tons of different things players like to do... As to how far Trion will go with all of that and what areas we will have to wait n see...) The damn thing already has more Mini games then ive ever seen in an mmo.
