In my experience (PC/NA), back succeeded, pre-patch, at about a 5-to-1 rate over arm. Post-patch, I've only ever seen a win with back. Most arm attempts fail to break the armor. Got a win just this morning...but the team was stacked with heavy hitters. By some miracle, I finished 3rd (and yes, I use a DPS loadout), but I won't pretend I wasn't lucky!

Well, that and a Wolfhound I was able to mod up to 6.8 crit dropped for me a while back... =P

I thought they were going to add Open world WM’s ?
Makes sense , since 1.5 there has been many that have escaped
only problem that will be added to what already exist, would be more Lag, unless they have a way to place you in another Instance/Shard

The back works. Even Trick said in the last Live Stream broadcast that it turns out the back is the most efficient piece to target (I don't necessarily agree with him but in practice on PC NA it had an exceptionally high success rate among PUGs compared to targeting the arm).

Players targeted the right arm because intuitively it was the most obvious piece of crystal armor to target (accessible from almost anywhere in the room during the hanging phases) and the game design of the Warmaster provides some unique benefits to targeting the right arm piece (can knock him off the wall, stunning him and shutting down his drop shock attack, and his arm is much easier to hit during his laser phase).

But the constant damage bonus for hits on the back with Sucker Punch in the perk loadout (you can get them on the arm too but given his arm's movement it's not nearly as consistent) coupled with the more efficient use of spikes during hanging phases can compensate for that and a higher down rate among players for being clustered so close to one another during the hanging phases. Notwithstanding some player's claims to the contrary, the back is also easier to target during the ground phases because it generally only moves on one axis whereas the arm moves on three.

If the message is changed and tells them to wait until there's a certain amount of people, that would change the whole scenario completely. It also would help us identify very easily who the Griefers are.
Just came back to the game after nine months away. I jumped in and this is exactly what happened. Never been before, so I start shooting because that's the next step. I was then immediately called an idiot (by the likes of some of the other posters in this thread no doubt). I didn't even realize there were other people in the room, because their avatars hadn't loaded yet. Beyond that, I spent the whole time shooting at an arm, because no one bothered to explain to focus fire one spot (and people were shooting all over).

Experienced people will eventually get the hang of it after a few runs. To make this end game type encounter a bit more consistent, they should consider a cap on EGO rating, something like 1000 minimum to take the portal in. This way it would filter for at least semi-experienced people. There will always be people though who are new, and clueless, and screw up because of it.

I haven't seen one in ages. But Trion did the right thing(for once) in limiting and nerfing those. You had no chance to earn points for breaking the crystal with someone with a Charge Blade and planting a damage spike right next to the crystal. The player would slash that crystal in less than 30 seconds. It was a total joke. This was more frequent at Scrapper and Dark Matter Arkfalls.

this is where I think a Pop-up message becomes most useful. Chat can be easily missed, but pop-ups are annoying at times but very useful. I'm not talking about a pop-up telling you, "you're about to release a NPC that requires a very large group to defeat it, do you want to Continue ? Click Yes or No" , just one that expresses there needs to be a large group, and are you prepared/ready/agreeable

I insist the best way to somehow improve the situation is by changing the Ego's dialogue. Change the message from "Go ahead and break the locks right away" to something like "My sensors tell me that what's inside post a huge threat so it would be wise to call for re-enforcements". You know , some cheesy line that would blend with the game environment. That way we would be able to identify the griefers. Like the one I caught last night saying "What's the point of waiting if more than half of the people here inside doesn't have legendaries that match the threat level blah blah blah". And if he the griefer insists in breaking the locks early and do so. We can say "Ok then..Enjoy your personal Warmonkey" and the common sense people would leave him alone with his private date.

Well why not remove the bit where he escapes?

Make it a case of either the WM dies or all the players die?

I would like to say , AGAIN, that the shields are still glitching in the WM chamber when he hits the floor after being hanged in the ceiling. It doesn`t regen even after a self revive or revived by another player.
This way it`s not an easy task to defeat the big monkey.

And on PS3 EU we always went for the back.
