I don't know if it was just the recent patch or the patch before but i agree, i did the docks alone which is usually Threat 3 for me (yes im a low ego) but when i invite my friend which is about the same ego as me we are both 1400, the thing goes to 8 sometimes higher depending on which mission it is. And raider were just to dang hard to kill we did finish it but like an hour later.

Earlier i did one in SF area where i had to turn off the sentry guns then activate it so it could kill the dark matter, a random came with an ego of 9## and the entire area was just filled with a orange/red dot. Sentry guns were doing pretty much no damage and my own damage went from 1400 to 300. After 30minutes there was just still to many enemies as i looked just to see the threat goto 9 from 4. I told the guy don't get mad but i was leaving the mobs are just way to powerful for me lol.

I think TONIGHT we should show up in large groups...

I don't want to grief low ego players though - am willing to in order to reach my objective. New players are the innocent victims in this - what I WANT is for everyone to put in bug reports and flame these here forums until The COMPANY gets it thru their thick skull that the TL and scaling does not work in open world. How dare they take on something so ambitious that no one has done when they can't fix the simplest things. You already know the huge list of simple things that remain broken.

I just bought this game as a present for my friend. I have three lower characters so that I can try to gage the game play to where I am helpful and not a hindrance when she starts it. I want her to have fun and get to see the best parts of the game. Sadly, the best parts were prior to DLC5. That's when it was fun to romp around together and take out enemies. For me the difficulty is doable. Grindy and frustrating when they triple spawn an enemy based on EGO... but doable. I'm actually dreading having her play simply because I'm going to spend half the time apologizing and the other half trying to level her up in hopes that she'll enjoy it. Post DLC5 this game is not EGO friendly for all.

I did the same for 3 friends yesterday and created a new toon to play through with them. I doubt they'll be back because the frustration factor was very high when a higher ego rolled through. Watching the baddies health and shields regen instantly was a real kick in the nuts. From what I've read here in the forum it goes both ways where a low lvl player can wreck a high lvl's day.

    ***Devs***
-I'd like to see a special Livestream of the devs playing a new toon without giving themselves god weapons and shields.

-I want to see their builds and weapon specs for their toon.

-I want to see them do Missions, Daily Contracts, Incursions, Arkfalls and a Major Arkfall with only the weapons and shields they pickup ingame, showing us the stats of each weapon and shield they use.

-I want to see this done on the NA server with random players around of various ego levels and NOT on the alpha server.

-I also want to see the webcam of the devs face while playing to gauge for myself is they are indeed having fun playing with the game in it's current state.

My personal opinion is that the game isn't fun anymore and it's become a frustrating grind. If yesterday was my first day in Defiance, I would have deleted the game and never looked at it again. I'll keep playing because I've seen how much fun this game can be and because I have a toon with a high enough ego.

You Devs really should do the above test even if you don't Livestream it. Put away your god weapons and try the game with a casual players mindset. Not all casual players are going to do the missions first, they'll want to explore the world you've created.

Well, possibly excepting those who wanted the game to be a bit more challenging (I'm one of those). Unfortunately, DLC5 didn't accomplish much along those lines. There's only slightly more challenge...and an awful lot of tedium and frustration. Defiance: NGE.
Bingo. And there are plenty of more challenging things to do with expert co-ops and stuff. This open world scaling shtako has got to go.

I'm afraid we're stuck with it thru at least June 4th tho. At that point MAYBE they'll finally turn it off at which point we can all say "I told you so".

I am a 4200 ego player and I do agree that the scaling is not linear at all. It was not tought through a multiplayer vision. There also a big factor that people are not mentioning, its the nano effect. If you are not using bio at TL 10 then you are shooting at bullet sponge. Even bio is better than electricity if the ennemy has armor. Since at TL10 most ennemy have more than 5 armor plates more most often. Even with my super nano combo I tend to be a lot more succesful just using my oj bio pulser. Evn if I try to be slick and break armor with bio and switch to a flame weapon. The time it take to switch weapon is longer than me just using only my bio gun. For me nano fx are a huge part of the problem.
See you on the Shadow War.

    0-1000: tl1
    1001-2000: tl2
    2001-3000: tl3
    3001-4000: tl4
    4001-5000: tl5
    5001-6000: tl6

after this, threat levels should be based on simple addition of egos in a given area:
    tl7 - 6000-10,000 total ego
    tl8 - 10,001-15,000 total ego
    tl9 - 15,001-20,000 total ego
    tl10 - 20,001-xx,xxxx total ego

mt. tam should also have a multiplier of 0.5 so the threat level there can never reach top tiers

You Leave the mount Tam threat Levels just the way they are. I want to stand at sniper ridge with friends and cause Noob Worm Graveyard when the game goes free to play. LOL.

Trion could fix this in a heartbeat if they wanted to, knock the TL levels down by 2 and stop the double spawning.

The fact that they haven't done it means they don't want to. I'm firmly convinced that as far as their concerned, it's working as intended. The intention is to frustrate the whales so that they'll drop a wad in the bit store to become competitive. Whales love to leapfrog the grind and get right to end game content.

Social media games and the "freemium" model are slowly but surely destroying gaming as we've known it. It's just another Gold Rush and they don't care who and what dies in the process as long as they strike it rich.

Yes a complex and unecessary nano system...another part of the overly ambitious game development here.

It's unfortunate. But you're right AVA, switching weapons in the heat of the battle can get you killed pretty quickly. I'm talking swapping weapons here, not switching loadouts. Switching loadouts would be completely impossible. I've tried it and died.
