threat level was a nice idea.

implemented totally incorrectly. how this has managed to still be implemented in this fashion makes me want to quit. there is ZERO excuse for this.

here is how scaling should be handled since trion seems to be completely incompetent.

    people
    1: max TL of 3 ( current )
    2: max TL of 5
    3: max TL of 7
    4: max TL of 10

there is ZERO point for having 10 "levels" of threat if you only use 2 of them, 3 and 10. it makes all other values other than 0 pointless. and the scaling should go up SLOWLY, not instantly.

and Trion, just so you know, i have cancelled my RIFT subscription and will no longer be paying money for that game due to the complete incompetence displayed in this game. while they may be different teams, and even different immediate management teams, this failure can only be described as an INSTITUTIONAL failure at this point. thus, i will no longer support Trion in its current state. i shall continue to play Defiance. but your company will no longer receive monetary support from me until you can demonstrate your ability to make decisions appropriately.

the DLC you made for this game was extraordinarily disappointing. so far i am unable to find any actual new content outside of gun skins and costume items. all your other content is just re-using other content, which includes the arenas which from what i can tell is either re-using previous instances or else copied content from the world and instanced for the "arena" areas. i shall concede that the Thorn Liro arena does appear to be unique, but all the different arena's happen on that same map. so in all the DLC's, you have added 1 map used for Thorn Liro Arena's.

introducing the concept of threat levels is not flawed.

introducing the concept of gear tied to ego in functional boosts is not flawed.

your implementation of threat level and functional gear levels?

has cost you a Rift subscriber and player.

Yup, sadly this post has the ring of truth to it.

The F2P ball is in TRION's court, how they choose to play it will dictate the future of the game, and perhaps TRION in general... and likely in short order.

I'm hoping they can find a way to make it work quickly, and not be punishing/alienating to the new players that they hope will be supporting their efforts.

    They can't

But OPEN WORLD DOES NOT NEED OR WANT THREAT LEVEL SCALING! It's broken, stop being so stubborn and thick, Trion. You've totally wrecked the fun part of this game.

It does not motivate us to play together. I queue up for Military Academy to get my open world contracts done so no one can travel to me and increase the TL - making a 10 minute event into a 30 minute ORDEAL.

I'd like to help lower level players, actively. Now the only way I can really help is by staying away and coaching them instead.

I don't think the threat scaling can be removed as you suggest. I suspect it is too entrenched in the game code and code of the latest DLC, the same mistake other companies made. Trion should roll back the code to before DLC5 and the threat scaling, rebuild DLC5 without the threat scaling and relaunch. Items that players acquired in DLC5 could be preserved somehow in some form of storage until reactivated. Either way, a massive apology to the player base should be in order. Players should be spending their time playing and buying bits (lol) not being unpaid code testers for a company. We play to relax not troubleshoot. I know the EULA says a company can F up a game however they wish with no customer recourse, but that kind of operation does not keep customers or acquire future customers.

One of the biggest problems is that TL10 sometimes feels like TL50

I thought it was just me. Sometimes T10 is o.k., sometimes ridiculous. Methinks there are other conjoined factors at work here? I think lag sometimes makes enemies OP, combined with T10 and it's just ugly time.

Methinks they should have implemented scaling in a much gentler fashion (maybe capping at T7-8) initially. It's not too late for them to fix scaling before F2P.

I've noticed a considerable difference between T9 and T10. Seems like the requirements for scaling to go T10 should be increased. We'll still have T10 expert coops selectable.

Threat levels are insane. I have only ben on a few weeks but I'm to the point where I dont want to do side missions because at literally the end I have someone else roll through and makes the last fight a living hell on us or sometimes just me if they literally were just passing through the area. Threats are terrible and should be addressed by Trion before F2P kicks in or they'll lose a lot of people right from the start

I think you're right - I think they CAN'T. But also, won't because they still think they can fix the issues.
