Hello, I'm new to both the forums and the psn version of Defiance. I started last Saturday and I'm really enjoying the game, even with the few hundred bugs I'm currently experiencing. I've currently at EGO 1118. I've completed the story line and session two. However, I'm curious on what's next? People have told me not to focus on getting good gear till I have high ego of around 4000 as the gear will quickly be out dated.

I'm looking for any general advice, I'm open to ideas and methods which I could follow.

There is no reason for you to focus on upgrading your carp equipment unless you find something that you think is perfect, because as you level up and kill stuff you will continually find better stuff. For stuff to do, there is:

2: season one episodes
3: season 2 episodes (more will continue to be added during the season0
4: Minor/major Arkfalls
5: Minor/major Arkbreaks (they are the arkfall sites that you can go inside)
6: Sieges
7: Incursions
8: Conflict sites
9: Co-ops ( can only start up for standard due to your low ego but can join friends in the harder difficulties)
10: Competitive (PvP)
11: Shadow War (technically PvP but in the main game world)
12: Hotshots
13: Rampages
14: Time trials
15: Roadside emergencies
16: Just wander and kill ****
17: Level up vehicles
18: level up weapon skills
19: Work on pursuits
20: Thorne liro arenas (if you own Dlc 1)
21: Gunslinger arenas (if you own dlc 4)
22: Join a clan if you want to get help, or have people to talk to.

I also suggest buying Tier 2 lockboxes with keys and hoarding MOST of your Arkforge until you are somewhere over 3000 or 4000 ego.

Focus on weapon/vehicle levels (get them all to 20) and pursuits to increase your EGO. More "story" will be coming with the cross-over content and season 2....but you need to get pursuits and weapons/vehicles up. Do ArkFalls, ArkBreaks, Incursions, Sieges and contracts.

The best thing is to experience the various ways you can shoot stuff, or blow it up. Basically, you progress your character's power by gaining higher EGO rating. You do this in large part by doing pursuits (like achievements), and focusing on gaining weapon skills and vehicle skills.

Many of the pursuits come with new outfits or vehicles. They include silver and gold in many of the time trials, rampages or hotshot events. There are also pursuits for Co-op maps, PvP, incursions, social stuff, and killing various mobs around the world.

Find a clan, test it out to make sure it's active and you fit in OK, and this should help you a lot too. Clans typically have new people always asking questions, or experienced people going into details and other interesting things which you might find useful. Plus, it's a good way to get groups for dailies, or whatever.

At a minimum though, I would start working on your dailies in order to gain faction, and start accumulating faction currencies.

Personally, I have the season pass and it takes me a bit to work my way through all of the dailies. I do an incursion, a few conflict sites, a co-op map or two, an arena. Then, I will pick a hotshot to get my kills needed for some of the bigger pursuits. I also work to get my Arkfall achievements. It's a full day.

I forgot to mention leveling vehicles and skills! As well as doing pursuits. I guees I got to edit/update that list. It is edited and went from 18 to 22. Yikes!

Don't get caught up in the OJ fever. It is really expensive to upgrade them and at least while you can raise your ego level crazy fast it doesn't make sense to worry about. I'm just under 3k ego and I have several blues that are much better than some of the OJ's I have. Until your ego starts to plateau (i've heard 4k or 5k depending on whos talking) save your script you will get good enough gear from missions and drops and T2 boxes. Then when your 5k you can easily afford the 0 reload zagger or double crit wolfhound everyone wants.
Oh and don't worry about buying vehicles. I would stick to the quad until you get all the race pursuits since that is what you use during the time trials.

Brutix, you feel more "focused"? Argh! I would be gripping my head and squeezing it at all of the daunting tasks that Atticus Batmin has seemingly laid out for you to do! So MUCH! However will you do it all?????

I will tell you.
It is like trying to eat an elephant: you do it one bite at a time until it is all done.
That seems rather silly, now doesn't it? But it is very true. The key (in my opinion) to enjoying Defiance for a long time is not to jump right in and grind away at it in some obsessed way.
Just do a bit here and there, You know? A Main Storyline Mission or so and then some Arkfalls. A Race or two and a Side Mission. Do a Hot Shot and an Arena.
Pick up and use as many weapons as possible and see which types that You enjoy, shoot them all over and have fun!
Find some friends on the forum here and hang out with them, learn about the synergies and perks and how everything works together.
There aren't any stupid or bad questions except the ones that you don't ask, the answers will only make your game experience better!
Above all of the "pursuits" and "weapon masteries" and "EGO progression" and "endgame strategies", remember to just have fun and laugh. Try silly things like balancing a Duni or a 4-wheeler on the Diablo Lighthouse, or "The Cannonball Glitch" or try to fly inside of The Progenitor and laugh about it.
Always keep it fresh and fun, I promise you that you will play it almost everyday for a year and still have a little bit left to do.

Yup, like CRIXDA says, take your time and enjoy the game.
You said that you are on PSN, for your location you must be in EU, if you have doubts of anything just ask. Many of us in PS3 EU like to help people who like to learn how to play the game.
