I can understand the decision to remove loot boosts. They never functioned as described in the bit store and increasing the amount of trash loot noticeably increased server load on loot boost weekends. While I don't think we'll be getting much of an influx of new players on the PC servers because we have had the limited free trial for the game many months now, can you imagine what the server load would be like for the console servers if they kept loot boosts, applied the global increase to them as well and included them in the Patron Passes?
Scrip is going to have limited value in the game going forward and less as they release more features because the market for gear is going to drop. We can use arkforge to upgrade rarity now and reroll mastery bonuses. We will be able to use it to reroll individual rarity rolls and synergies some time in the future. There won't be much of a point for players to pay lots of scrip for gear from other players.
This is not as big a deal as you make it out to be and in the long run it's good for the stability of the servers.
