Just sticking this in this thread for reference, since it addresses this issue.

    learn from companies like blizzard,,,

d3 had anniversary loot droop +100% increase for legendry's to drop, the community was so happy and ppl came back to play the game for that week, the community spoke out in forums, really wanted blizzard to keep this boost permantly, know blizzard gets a lot of flack just like other gaming companies do, but guess what

they kept it and don't see why they wouldn't, ppl play games to farm gear, if farming gear has no rewards or no real chance at getting anything better, why would they play the game?

    they wouldn't..

instead of gaming companies learning from others or things like this, a lot just seem to be on this

    "learn as we go mentality"

yeah well, that's coming at the expense of the gamers and there wallets..

guess everyone who plays games is rich and don't really care about money/time they spend on something,

this is true right now over at riot games,

league of legends, have been in since closed beta, yet im completely done with league, ranked, all regions, everything..

and its cause of issues like this, where everything seems to be p2w and new user friendly .,

seems so many ppl want everything now and don't know how to work for anything, yet instead of giving ppl something that feels fun and rewarding they just want to make more money or take more away from the gamer..

As I seem to recall, "loot boosts" resulted in more junk loot, not better loot. I don't think they ever actually increased the quality of loot. What resulted were the junk loot weekends we all remember so fondly. Perhaps this is what they menat by not working as intended?

Moreover, the sheer volume of junk loot had to be factor in server loading. I'm not really crying over the loss of loot boosts.
Me: I have over 8 million in salvage from all the loot boots, etc... what the heck am I supposed to do with all that?
    Friend: Keys.
Me: Oh joy. Then I can open even MORE boxes and get cruddy weapons.

PS: I have over 3xx items in storage. All but about twenty are grenades, stims, and spikes. I can't wait to get those auto salvaged. Tier 2 boxes make my Claims Item box weep. I still din't mind the loot boosts simply because it's tough to make scrip when you are trying to save for epic shinies.

I think if gaming companies learned from each other about what to do, or not do, the gaming community would become fantastic.

Take for instance NCSoft. They shuttered City of Heroes without much notice (a month), and without EVER giving the community a valid reason as to why, as the game was still making a good profit every month. Now look at em.. their latest two games have crappy communities that are grossly undersized for any MMO and the bad press they got has turned away even the most steadfast and diehard testers like myself. Bad Press = Bad Experiences for gaming companies.

Then look at Blizzard. While I'm not a big WoW fan mainly because of the community, the developers have a nasty habit of listening to the community and implementing things that people want in WoW. This has lead to a 9 years long run as the "MMO of MMO's" even when they have problems.

Hmmm.. evil trend or just good business sense?

And I agree with your earlier post.. there needs to be some sort of group for gamers protecting gamers from bad game developrs. Other than the various FB groups, too many to count YouTube game review channels, and things like that. I wonder if you can make one as a non-profit.. hmmm (time to grab google..)

Just figured id throw my 2 cents into this one. im not a day one player, more like a day 4 player. regardless ive been playing this game for a while, my character is currently ego 5781. at that level your fighting harder enemies that consistently drop greens, blues, and purple weapons. i actually had not seen a white weapon in weeks till i bought a loot boost to see if it was still as good as it used to be, it is not. i guess i dont understand why people are complaining about paying real money to be spammed with white weapons.

24 hour loot boosts pretty much got me enough to *almost* get one of my dream weapons. I would start an incursion with my Stingray and tag all the enemies. the amount of items that drop made a huge difference. Once they changed it so that consumables could be picked up as salvage and scrip my salvage went up by 2 million and scrip also took a slight turn.

This is before some changes that seemed to make the incursions and akrfalls not as abundant. One decent weapon to sell still doesn't add to the amount you were able to grab. I have yet to find a weapon drop that I even entertained keeping.

It all breaks down the same. Farming.

    Right now for me it's:

    Loot = Scrip/Salvage = Keycodes = T2 boxes = Arkforge

About the same level as you, so not a lot left to do but farm!

Because ark salvage is worthless without scrip, you use the garbage picked up from those boosts to sell at a pawn shop rate to get more garbage from the lock boxes where you can sometimes get something from it. If they would get rid of the scrip costs to buy keys it would be no big deal. Hence why everyone farmed the garbage during loot boost weekends in order to earn some scrip.

I stupidly jumped into a minor arkbreak the other day. Spent around 30 minutes slugging it out with endless waves of overpowered cheap volge, died about 7 times having to extract multiple times. Picked up one green weapon from an enemy drop the rest was salvage/Stims/nades/ammo. My reward for this 30+ minute bout of frustration was less than 200 scrip and 3 green volge weapons. It actually cost me more money to participate in this venture than I earned from score/keys/scrip gained. I won't even mention the level 1800 guy who was there that died and extracted 14 times. If he bought the spikes he spent up to 40 k, then each extract @180 you see why people bought the white weapon drop.

actually if you notice before they had scrip and loot boost(replaced by salvage i believe), but the way the loot boost worked there was no reason to really purchase the scrip boost. i think this is just an attempt to get you to buy a second boost

    Ditto.
Although before when we had to reset mastery to continue gaining weapon skills, now and again I'd use pickups just to keep on leveling while my goodies were cooking in the salvage matrix. I recall a long loot boost weekend of farming at Sutro, blue and green ground pounders were my friends!
