I did today's Expert Co-op (Island of Lost Soldiers) on my 917 rating alt with just a purple SMG and came in 2nd place with 68k points. I died 2 times the whole run. Had I scored 10k more points, I would have scored double what the 2 5k+ rating players had combined.

Experts should be freely open to all EGO characters, not just the ones that have spent enough time leveling their characters.
Again score means absolutely nothing concerning performance, but yeah i've seen 5k plus players in experts using volge rifle, shield bmgs and all kinds of things.
It's still a fact that a high ego rating player has a vastly bigger damage potential than a low one, assuming both play average the 5k+ is miles ahead of the low ego.

That being said after the last patch Island of the lost soldiers is nerfed to hell. Half the amount of mobs and 99ers are complete pushovers.
With this setup 5k+ really does lose it's point.

People who say score doesn't really matter are only half right. It's true you can't tell on arkfalls since the kill shot is worth so much but when you have someone in an expert co op who has a higher score than the other three people combined there is definitely some imbalance.

It's not as skewed in experts but it's still very skewed.
Say i can for example get more points with a nomad smg than i could with a well aimed TACC assault rifle.
BMGs can get really good score if they link alot although their more detremental to the team than helpful.

In fact you might rack up more opputunist points as a low ego player since you generally do less dps.

(on a side note, i found that infectors are good as a lazy mans score getter in infected sieges :P)

I'm not saying SirServed wasn't more effective than the 5k+ players, with double score he probably was, but the score isn't an accurate judge of that.
Also it's somewhat beyond the point, if a 5k+ player was there as good as his 900 Ego is, the 5k would have been miles ahead in effectiveness(although not necessarily in score).

I have been doing expert coop since they have become a contract option. If you make them worth my effort then I will do them. I usually went in with another 5000+ to help out and now that I am at 5000+, I am always taking in someone to help them out.

You need to get into a good clan that will help you out with this option. Our clan is always help each other out with the contract.

Buy them..price is same for either side of the 5000 ego level, between 400 to 600 depending on vendor

i never said different levels of difficulty shouldn't have ego reqs, I'm saying that players should have been warned before they bought the dlc, I'm saying they should have access to the vendors, different tiers should offer different currencies for lower ego players so they can buy blue and purple versions of what high ego players get and complete pursuits, I'm asking why most high ego players are getting all elitist over this issue, people payed for something so they should all get something at least

it was different when everyone started getting all huffy because the dlc's had little to no content, they all felt robbed, ripped off and betrayed by the company, this is how low ego players feel about this last dlc, they got less content than others did, and all this happened like a week after they bought the dlc, have some compassion for your fellow gamers, the whole us vs them thing is all good and well when its the community vs the company in trying to get things done and sorted, but between fellow gamers, your comrades, this shtako shouldn't be happening

FWIW I'm over ego 5000 so aren't locked out of anything, and don't have a problem with low ego players being locked out the harder difficulties, i just think they should access to something the non dlc players can't access, they did pay for it

Maybe they could let them into the queue, but require at least one or half of the players being pulled from matchmaking be 5k+ before putting them all together. It would still allow low EGO characters into the queue but they would have to be matched to people that can hopefully carry the slack, if any. People that don't want to carry low EGO or even players they don't know can still form a full party before queuing up.

I get that some of the level 5000 people don't want to carry the lower levels who might be bad at the game and/or not know what they are doing. However instead of having a level 5000 to group you up what if a better solution like if you have an existing group you can all do the expert coop map if you wanted. That way we don't really queue up for matchmaking and can still group up with our existing non-5000 friends and no one has to carry anyone. Also correct me if I am wrong but with F2P there will be a lot more lower levels than there are level 5000+ players. I would think that if you played the game enough to get to level 5000 you would have more friends or clan contacts. In that case wouldn't it be easier for them to form a group and enter expert coop instead of telling all the lower levels to find a level 5000 player or join a clan or make new friends. I have friends I want to play with but can't because we need to ask a level 5000 to add us in. We did the maps just fine before with the same group and just want to be able to do that for the paid content now. I shouldn't have to abandon my friends or clan just because they can't get me into an expert coop map. I feel the need to say as many others have pointed that ego level is not a good way to judge if a player can hold their own or not. Yes being 5000 means the player has spent a lot of time with the game and probably knows what they are doing but since the ego leveling is only so much related to getting XP from kills you can't judge someone if they don't want to grind pursuits to level up and are content with their ego level. A lot of my pursuits are incomplete because of the racing missions that I do not like doing. Even if I was a higher ego I would still use my current setup and just keep upgrading the rating on my legendary fully modded SMG constantly unless I found something really better than it.

I know this can be contradictory with people having different views and opinions but there are a lot of people who like getting achievements and trophies who buy dlcs so they can "complete" their games. If they wanted to add "end game content" without announcing it to the buyers beforehand they should have made it free and not part of the dlc which they changed after people purchased it. Just saying that some people bought it to complete their games but are now left to the mercy of level 5000+ players. (FYI I got the collectors edition with season pass on release but I know people who bought the dlcs individually). I for one would like to complete this game and move on. Before anyone says anything I did play Defiance for fun but unfortunately it doesn't add much fun to my life anymore with the near impossible volge seiges, disconnects, other various issues and lacking content in general.
