Apparently the Upgrade Rarity feature is awful... would it be worth it in this case?

I love the FRC SAW, it's easily my fav gun. Problem is, they don't drop often, let alone a good one... I happened to find a purp early on that dropped with nice stats. Recoil mastery... double reload rolls w/ a reload purp effect... Run-n-Gun synergy... I don't think I'll ever find a better one unless the stars align. Even when I finally DID find an OJ, I still liked the purp more... even if Syphon is a bit "meh" compared to Bio.



But then I see so many players in game poo-pooing Upgrade Rarity and calling it a waste... well, for the sake of preserving my beloved old SAW, would it be worth it here?

I'm confused a bit here. Rarity upgrade is one of the best features the design team has added in this game (sucks for the economy though). I have built some remarkable weapons now, some that I would have never seen otherwise.

As for your SAW, I personally prefer at least a -.20 recoil roll on the SAWs I build. I never reload mine, as I use two of them with the preparedness perk. In your case, the double reload/ ego on reload is nice if you want to use only one.

For rarity upgrade, and anything else really in game, go for what you enjoy. Let the nay-Sayers complain all day, in the end this game should be about what's fun for you!

I upgraded a wolfhound and a vbi assault rifle from blue and the mastery bonus has not updated to legendary....? Needs some work before I would give my thumbs up for it.

The mastery will be upgraded once you reset the mastery. That is intentional, and it has been discussed quite a bit at the introduction of rarity upgrade. The extra 75AF isn't that big of a deal to have your perfect weapon

Yea, if you don't have at least recoil .10 that thing will always be rough. I bought the blue frontier SAW from top notch and upgraded to orange. It's got all orange mods, as well. It does above 5000 damage per bullet, can fire for 13 seconds before reloading, and reloads in 2.8 seconds. Oh, and the targeting sight doesn't move at all when I fire the whole mag. Was it worth upgrading? Lol I love it

Dude, those SAWS are terrible, save your arkforge please......

You want 2 SAWS in a certain synergy. grenadier or canoneer. If its canoneer you will want a mastery recoil roll and a natural -20 recoil roll. If its grenadier you dont have to worry as much. I would stick clear of sypon and just try and use Bio, Fire and Rad these days.

I say this with sincere honesty. I don't say it with intention to troll. Those saws are absolute garbage. Complete and total garbage. I would have broke them down or sold them to a vendor the moment I pulled them. A saw *must* have either Grenadier, or a minimum 20% natural recoil reduction. Icing would be damage or crit rolls.

I'm pretty sure I have a purple saw on my baby character that meets those minimum requirements (I haven't played her in a couple weeks), and she's only 1600. If I do, you can have it.
