    LMG vs AR

    Which do you prefer?

So far I'm liking the Light Machine Guns.

I see everyone running around with Assault Rifles, but maybe I got a lucky drop or something but I don't see the advantage of any AR I've come across compared to a Frontier SAW. The F-Saw has about 30% more damage, almost 3 times the clip size, slightly slower fire rate which lets you just keep that gun on the sweet spots.

Is there something I'm missing when comparing the two? Some unwritten traits to them?

LMG all day for me, absolutely love not having to reload every few seconds, and it works really well with the reload % perk

Was addicted to the LMG in Beta 3, so I'm hoping to find one that works soon. The only one I've gotten so far is 3-round burst...talk about teets on a boar hog... =/

You need a FRC saw, those things are monsters.

Tried to burst one to lvl machine gun skill, but just can't take it, I absolutely hated having burst on lmg.

Think there needs to be some more clear variance, like you can only mod LMGs to a certain extent where ARs are fully adjustable.
Or LMG you can't roll when equipping them.

LMG is not a run and gun type of fire arm, it's not even a stand and gun - in most cases only being effective or manageable on a tripod or caged.

They would have been better off leaving LMG for certain vehicles and as special weapons in instances/dungeons/missions.

I think the difference between AR and LMG is the fire rate and bloom. If you're looking to spew out a ton of damage, an LMG would be your best choice. If you're more concerned for accuracy and preserving ammo, I guess an AR works provided you practice shooting things in the weakspot.

As for me, I prefer the DPS so I got an LMG, an FRC SAW or something like that. It's also got an element, but I have no idea what it does. What's the element that has a sorta purple swirly icon (oh, and it's not the dark blue biohazard icon. Figured I should let you know), and what does it do?

i fully upgraded an assault rifle and have a good scope and its deadly, better than my sniper rifle for ranged attacks and equally good for firing from the hip

I have both an LMG and an AR in one loadout just so I don't have to reload until a fight is over, even if they do share ammo. ARs are better for tighter shots, but LMGs have dat capacity. Neither are my main weapon, though. Rocket/grenade launcher master race.
