Get it on Steam and I'll buy it.

A couple of years ago I had games scattered among several digital providers and CDs/DVDs, so I finally decided to consolidate it all in one place. I chose Steam because of their huge catalog, even including F2P games, and because most of my friends also use Steam so we can gift games to each other.

I'm sorely disappointed that there is no digital pre-order option for Defiance on Steam (yet!), but I sure hope you're working on getting it there.

    One can hope.

So if it's not on Steam, you won't purchase it?
I used to be an eager Ark Hunter like you, then i took a "soon" to the ear.

It's not like it's restricted to Origin. No reason not to buy it, honestly.

Nothing wrong with buying a boxed copy and installing it manually to somewhere on your computer.

    Steam is the future. Period.

(this won't stop me from buying the game though)

I don't even have an optical drive in my desktops anymore - in the era of broadband cable, I personally believe the CD medium is on the edge of becoming outdated.

edit: @OP you know you can just add Defiance as a non-steam game to the library right? not sure though if the game overlay will work :P but nonetheless, defiance is a great game and many will miss out if they don't at least try the beta/alpha

One supplier does not make the world go around. In fact, sometimes it just slows it down. I'm sure many feel that way about gamestop.

Maybe I just do too much with ISO files to not have one. Lol.

Saying you won't buy a game because it's not on steam is stupid.

But that still doesn't stop me saying I would love it to be on steam, and I'd even purchase an extra copy to have it in my steam catalog (not just as a non-steam game). I love all my games in one place (steam) and there is no harm that can come from this - I'm sure somewhere I posted that the only harm is not putting it on steam because then you get people who say they won't buy because it's not on steam, losing sales.

I honestly feel the "Oh valve takes a cut of everything we make if it's on steam" is a poor cop out, since more sales come and I'm more likely to buy cash shop currency when I can use my steam wallet, because it's convenient.

I am curious if they will make it available through Steam, because Trion does have RIFT available for sale through it, so we might be seeing it pop up for pre-order. It would be nice to get a heads up on their decision that they will or will not make it available through Steam on launch.
