Even if Steam does not directly give it the thumbs up, Trion can get it Greenlighted.

Im sure its on Steam and Origin, at least Rift is. Like I said before those are for PC games, they really really need to hit the console playerbase with this.
Steam is super convenient, you have all your games stored together on your p/c, you can see what your friends are playing, it stores stats and trophies and if need be it has its own voip system. I think if any game wants to be competitive in this market they should make game available through steam but it isn't necassary.

Keep in mind if Steam goes down or there is a problem with your account, you won't be able to access any of your games. Doesn't hurt to have things spread out a bit.
if steam goes down you can still launch game through launch file on p/c

If steam goes down, you can't use the steam shortcut links (because they're urls). But you can navigate to the folder and as long as it doesn't use steam cloud you should have no problem being able to launch your games, you just won't have steam features till the steam servers come back up.
And if you're on about if steam goes "poof!" then valve have already said they'd make all games available without steam if it were to ever happen.
It doesnt go down anymore, doesnt matter little bit even Blizzard's Titan is console game. Greenlight keeps it going forever, keep in mind Greenlight is ALOT bigger deal for developers than for us games, every greenlighted game, means Valve makes friends from indy company devs. What place Valve's Steam takes in the future, thats the question. Shortly said, Valve has supporters from players and developers.
