For those of us who've been here awhile, we've already voiced this opinion and concerns in the game, on the forums, on the live streams and in every interactive way we can with the Developers.

Problem is: Defiance was ORIGINALLY billed as a MMORPG with Shooter elements.. then a month or so later.. was billed as just an MMO Shooter with RPG elements. And it's changed about a dozen times since then.

The big draw for Defiance has always been the tie in with the TV show. Last season we had a couple of small events, but even then, they where things you could so solo. It really LOOSES a lot of the MMO aspect for those of us who are used to RPG's that include all the things you mentioned in the OP.

That being said.. I have to agree: I don't see clan support, customizable UI, deeper character customization (including bio sheets for our characters), or anything remotely close to crafting, warehousing, or the various other aspects that make a MMORPG. Afterall.. this isn't an RPG, it's a shooter.

I'm having fun with it after a month or so of playing. It is listed as a "third person shooter" and I don't believe it was ever intended to be an out and out MMO. Since I'm not really a "crafter" in MMOs anyway, I don't really care about it that much. I do wish that they had an in game Clan search/recruiting engine and the chat isn't that great (kinda weird to use). I'd wish for a more social aspect to the game. This game is like any other really. I got tired of Rift and endless dungeon runs, so I'm doing this for a bit.

Sounds a bit like Star Wars Galaxies. Always did like crafting in that game. Too bad it was the only fun thing in that game.

While I would certainly love to see something like that in Defiance, I would rather see new content more.

Beside why do a post about whining, if youre tired of the game And not having fun anymore then quit and play something else. I really dont see the point of this post.
yes, God forbid he try to get them to add more content to the game. Wtf is wrong with you? how is that whinning? Gotta love the morons in life to spice it up!

Anyway, agree 100%. After 5800 and playing for over a year, I grow weary of this game as well.

Same old arkfalls (whatever happened to the new majors we were supposed to get??), same old combat, new scoring system that takes score away, same cars, same co-ops, and same 2 Pvp maps (thats still such a joke lol).

Im dying for somthing new so I can bury this game. The lack of staff doing anything and no new content is just too much for a entire year +

It's really the skeleton of a game, with much room for improvement.

There's a lot of "unused" territory in the game that's just kinda meaningless, there's no real reason for any exploration. They really needed to include some mechanism/motivation for exploration. Perhaps unmarked arfalls, hidden tech caches, and unique procedural generated bunkers, missions, arkfall interiors, etc. could be developed to put the "HUNT" back into ark hunting?

And by "much" room... you really mean a "shtako ton" of room for improvement, yes?

This pretty much sums it up for me. Defiance has the game play nailed down. Defiance has it's problems. They do need to keep working on the bugs and add more real content. However at the moment there is nothing else out there really like this. In a few months or this time next year there might be a few options but right now there isn't.

I don't know what the reason is, but making any kind of change or addition to the game without breaking everything seems beyond Trion's abilities. It's surprising, considering that Rift doesn't have nearly as many issues in regard to changes and content additions.

I kinda get the sense that the early management team treated this much like one of those video games released alongside a movie--some one-off, half-assed pos crated merely to capitalize on the marketing efforts of the more valuable property, grab some cash and then fade into oblivion. But because it was Trion, they later decided it had to be MMOish, which is where everything fell apart.

The problem is that a lot of the things that we players would consider to be improvements (housing/social systems, AH, PvP balance) are met with blunt "Never going to happen." responses form Trion. Really makes you wonder just what their vision for the game really is.

While I'm not that big into crafting, and while I think the Ark Hunter is a hunter, not a craftsman, we've got a builder already in the game, Rosa Parks. Seems like she'd be a good person to bring all the neat stuff we get to and have options for her to build custom items. Maybe the Indogene doctor (you know, the weird one) could be utilized in some way too, maybe to design and build "blueprints" for some of the items Rosa builds. Maybe then scrip and salvage could have a purpose again instead of just taking up space in the inventory.
