Cross Platform, why and why not.

Upon researching this topic through various means I understand that there will be no cross platform play and that all systems will have there own server.

I also know that that Microsoft and Sony have a dispute over the matter, which is in my understanding why there will be no cross platform.

Question, Can 360 play with PC, or can PS3 play with PC? if so, why not just have two servers, 360/PC and PS3/PC. Just give PC players which server they'd like to join.


I personally would like to play with friends who are considering purchasing for PS3, but sadly I don't have PS3.

Trion had console playing with pc in house but as you said microsoft and sony said no cross play with pc or each other if i remember right microsoft quote said something to effect they didnt want to submit there players to unstable and less than optimal online play of the other two systems and alos PC will dominate pvp aspects of games. So ya thats last i heard on it

I bet if PC and PS3 opened one server together that Microsoft would change their tune real quick. PC owning people on consoles is garbage, I play PS2 with gaming pad and kick *** 99% of the time, it's all just a matter of preference and how experienced you are, sure PC gamers have a few more advantages, but that doesn't make them some sort of OP fps/tps God.

long and short of it is no cross platform what so ever, reason why well lets face it, no one really knows what happens behind closed doors.

most common idea is microsoft dont like there players who are paying to play, playing with people who are doing it for free and getting the exact same service. how true this is i guess we will never know.

This artical sums it up pretty well this is not first time a company has tried cross platform play FF XVI was 3 system launch but microsoft said no so suare enix pulled the plug on 360 version launched on ps3 and pc

If they had crossplay, what would be the point of having competition between each other in the console market place? Sony would just take over seeing as Xbox is only Halo & Gears of War (Not so much Gears anymore...it died)

Actually Microsoft did test this feature a few years back and the reason they did not keep it was because the PC slaughtered the xbox players every match. Keyboard and mouse are far better and have more precision compared to the console controllers.
