My thoughts exactly. Plus it's not a half bad sale since they are basically GIVING you the first season of Defiance for free. Amazon will have the HD version, not the SD version that scifi will air. The $10 bucks off aint minor either.

Clarify what you mean about credit toward purchase of the show. Can I tune into Syfy and just watch the show? Or do I have to pay to watch it?

it's to buy the episodes through amazon's video on demand. it's like buying tv show episodes on itunes

Just about every single video game released in the past decade is on-sale -somewhere- a day or two after launch.

it's amazon, they always run sales, besides, sales are mandated by retailers, not game devlopers, the retailer probly purchases the game from the manufactuer for something like 20-30 bucks, so they can sell it for anything above that for almost pure profit.
