Season 2 of Defiance is well underway and we’re thrilled to see the resurgence of fan events! What is a fan event, you ask? To break it down to its most basic definition, they’re events driven by community members like you. They can and have varied widely, taking the form of contests, PvP competitions, races, character build challenges, and lots more.
We’d like to begin supporting these events to celebrate and encourage more of them. This will take the form of publicly promoting events on our official channels and granting in-game rewards to the event organizer to be distributed to their event’s winners. Since this is a pilot program, we’ll start out gradually with small prizes and players and clans who have held successful events in the past. After we’ve helped support and promote a few established events, the program will grow broader and take on new hosts while keeping a close watch that they’re being held responsibly and fairly.
Our goal is to scale this program up to include all manner of fan project authors including fansite operators, fan artists, YouTubers, Twitch livestreamers, guide writers... the list goes on! We want to make sure we’re keeping track of all Defiance fan projects, big and small. Even if we can’t support a project with in-game prizes, we’re still very interested to hear about it and potentially promote it on the Defiance website and social media channels.
