took me a while, but I just read all of this
I'll keep it short
I don't like it, but understand why it was done, just don't understand why so late to change
If I was able to get half the AF now from T4's, as I was getting from T2's .. I could adjust, but I really don't think I'll be getting 10% of what I used to get
it was tough for me to just maintain 2 weapons and 2 shields, and not sure what happen, but since 2.013, I was finally able to collect enough keys to get me about 18 T2's a day, before was lucky if I acquired enough to get 8 a day.
so instead of 18 chances of getting AF I now only have 2.
To me the T4's were already nerfed, which was why I stopped buying them, before 1.5 came out.
I'm not going to be able to afford to level any more, well not at the rate I have been for the past month, more likely be playing alts more to slow my leveling pace, since the main source of my Af will be from the weekly and daily rewards. Unless they change the how drops come from t4's for the better
All I can say "I don't like it", it may or may not change how I play, and I don't think anything else I say would help or hinder or sway any decision
ETA: I didn't finish one line, fixed
I may have already said this but...
Thank God they sell in the bit store!

Of course it`s a money grab! Anytime you sell something in your cash shop that`s needed to progress in a game or needed to upgrade items is a money grab. If devs actually put stuff in the cash shop that people would want instead of need, they would have a much better business that makes more income. I for one will never spend one red cent on arkforge, but I would spend money on inventory slots, character slots, costumes and vehicles. If a game company wants me to invest in it, then make stuff I want to have. Don`t sell ingame currency that`s needed to upgrade gear because that only shows they are aiming for the short term market and trying to get as much as they can before everyone looses interest. Make dlc, make outfits, make unique weapon models, make more vehicles, make new playable characters. People eat that stuff up but they don`t like spending dollars on ingame currency.
A great example of games that are free to play but have awesome cash shops that generate money are the everquest games. You won`t find a single thing in their cash shop that`s needed to play the game to it`s fullest aside from the dlc packs. They also have in business for over 15 years with the games and learned what works and what doesn`t when it comes to cash shops. Trion could take some pointers from them.
I've noticed there's been a great reduction in the definition of P2W, it was once considered any game that allowed you to part with cash to upgrade your character's capabilities. Now, thanks to the power of rabid fanboy-ism and paid, viral forum goers it has become a situation where a game is only P2W if the best gear is exclusive to a cash shop. This game is P2W now, there have only been a handful of F2P games that aren't, it's not that big a deal. The endgame resource is for sale in the cash shop, that's pay to win. The thing is that pay to win isn't necessarily a bad thing, there are other avenues to the same stuff you can buy in the cash shop.
When you say "buy bits for forge or don't keep up" you have just admitted that you believe this game is the worst form of P2W where end game resources are cash shop exclusive or close to it. That's the "cash in now and close the servers early next year" strategy, by the way. I don't think that's Trion's goal, AF is still very available and doesn't seem to be terribly rare. You just can't throw it out the window on every crappy gun you get. That's probably the way it should be.
If they had done it this way at the beginning, I don't think it would have been much of an issue. It does kind of make sense. I think we're used to getting so-so rewards for T2 boxes. But they way things were at the start, the cheapest boxes ended up being the ones a lot of my people (myself included) ended up hitting up exclusively.
Either way, I suppose it's not a huge deal. I will miss the ability to upgrade my weapons as easily as I did... but I also think it was somewhat too easy to do because of the T2 boxes. It make the Oranges a bit less special because it was so easy to turn essentially anything you wanted into an orange. Objectively I think it makes sense for it to be harder than it currently was. Though like I said, I'll miss it.
Forcing your playerbase to do what you want them to do is no way to try and run a game and then on top of that insulting and degrading them with a complete lie is unforgivable.
I have talked to everyone i know in game about the arkforge from lockboxes and its clear they didnt just nerf the tier 2 box. I didnt keep a tally but i wish i had because multiple people pulling more than a hundred boxes and not just tier 2 but all tiers and not getting any arkforge from any of them is a complete nerf across the board and ridiculous.
Over a thousand boxes and no arkforge ?
