Need help with a few questions... PLEASE!
So, I picked up the game yesterday, and had a blast with it (after all of the patching and installing). I got it for the 360.
I really like what I have played so far, but I do have some questions. Any help would be awesome!!!
1) So I know that level is based on EGO and not the traditional level... (is that correct?)... If that is the case, I got to 54 last night. Is that decent for a few hours of play time? Should I be further along? Does xp from kills and missions feed your level/ EGO?
2) I see that I am earning all types of things from kills, missions, and other stuff, but how do I buy vehicles? I heard of something called bits???? is that the ingame currency?
3) Is there a max level of EGO you can get to?
4) Last night the map had a red ring on it, and I joined like 100 other people that were taking down this alien pod looking thing. It died and I did not see any loot from it. (glitch???)
5) I ran out of ammunition while fighting the ARK.. or whatever thing is in the red ring.... so what is the best way to get more ammo?
6) What is the overall goal of the game? Beat the single player mission and just PVP?
7) on my story missions... I noticed I would get bombarded by tons of enemies really quick. Is that normal to get killed so much, or should I be doing these missions with others?
8) Is there an enemy level, or do they auto adjust to me?
Thanks again.. for any help!

Afraid I can't offer much, but I can offer something.
Okay, Vehicles seem to be purchased with Bits (Real money bought funds) and Scrim. It may only be Bits, but I can't clarify that 100% yet.
During Arkfalls there is USUALLY an Ammo cache not too far away, but again I make no absolute promise. As for the Looting, you seem to get better loot based on how much damage you do. If you fought in the Arkfall for, say, a minute before it was over, you won't get much. Maybe a little bit of Scrim (or whatever it's called. Money)
If you want to buy a vehicle from the Store, just follow the menus until you find the Defiance store Tab.

ANSWER: You are fine
2) I see that I am earning all types of things from kills, missions, and other stuff, but how do I buy vehicles? I heard of something called bits???? is that the ingame currency?
ANSWER: Bits are currency bought with real money. There is also Scrip, which you earn from playing. I think you get a 4wheeler from an early mission.
EDIT This thread has vehicle stores

3) Is there a max level of EGO you can get to?
ANSWER: Yes, 5000.
4) Last night the map had a red ring on it, and I joined like 100 other people that were taking down this alien pod looking thing. It died and I did not see any loot from it. (glitch???)
ANSWER: I was in an arkfall last night with nothing as well, likely it was a glitch. Usually there is a pop up window that gives you some xp and scrip, and will show you how much damage/kills you did. There is often loot on the ground as well.
5) I ran out of ammunition while fighting the ARK.. or whatever thing is in the red ring.... so what is the best way to get more ammo?
ANSWER: There are ammo boxes at most towns and respawn points. I ran out of ammo last night too, but the arkfalls today all had ammo boxes.
6) What is the overall goal of the game? Beat the single player mission and just PVP?
ANSWER: Shoot stuff and get gear. Follow the story...
7) on my story missions... I noticed I would get bombarded by tons of enemies really quick. Is that normal to get killed so much, or should I be doing these missions with others?
ANSWER: See below
8) Is there an enemy level, or do they auto adjust to me?
ANSWER: Enemies adjust to your ego level and how many people are around.
Hope that helps a little.

1. Yeah that is fine for a few hours on the first night. Ego level does not make as much difference as levels do in other games so just have fun. I am not sure you have much to gain from power leveling. Also you can only use the Ego perks you equip. You don't just get them all.
2. There are multiple in game currencies. Bits are the one that is bought with real world money. The green currency, I forget the name is used to buy keycodes and is used in the weapon mod process for things like adding slots to your weapons. You can buy vehicles from some of the vending machines. They have moved them around since the beta. I think I saw a vehicle vending machine at Iron Demon ranch, but could be mistaken. I did see one somewhere though.
3. I think it is like 3000 but it will take a long time as each level or set of levels takes more xp to get to.
4. You get loot afterwards right now. You get keycodes and such. Key code open lockboxes. Lockboxes give you random equipment for your level. Higher level lock boxes give you more and better items.
5. Ammo boxes. Make it a point to remember where these or at. Also if you run across a BMG it does not do a lot of damage, but I think it has unlimited ammo too. (Not sure about that though)
6. Yes and no. It is to do what ever you want. Beat all missions, PVP, do pursuits or dance all day.
7. Yes. They made the story missions a little harder. Makes you want to group up more. That is the draw of an MMO, being about to group up with people.
8. I have no idea. I think they are all a set level and harder ones are in harder areas. Keep in mind that level in this game does not mean much when you look at other games. Gear means a lot more.

1) XP feeds into EGO upgrade points which you can use to level up your perks. EGO level is only achieved by doing the pursuits. 54 is quite low, 150 is about two hours of play. It kind of coasts at some point.
2) Scrip is the ingame currency. That's what you use to buy items from the supply stations. You get one free vehicle within the first few missions. There are a couple of vehicle vendors around, which are described as such on the map.
Bit is the currency used in the cash-shop. You can obtain vehicles there as well, but it's generally never necessary.
3) 5000 I believe.
4) There is no loot from it yet. Only keycodes, scrip and exp.
5) There are ammo caches all around, check your map.
6) Yes. Alternatively beat single player mission and find a game with good pvp.(E.g. any other game)
7) You should never die on story missions, keep in mind despite having a yellow circle on your minimap, it is not a boundry, you can retreat as far as you like to get better crowd control on your enemies. If you need to protect an NPC, just let them die, you can kill all your enemies and revive them later. There are usually no failure states.
8) Enemies only scale with the amount of players present, they are generally not leveled.

I'll try my best to answer below your questions.
1) So I know that level is based on EGO and not the traditional level... (is that correct?)... If that is the case, I got to 54 last night. Is that decent for a few hours of play time? Should I be further along? Does xp from kills and missions feed your level/ EGO?
Considering it was your first time playing I think 54 is pretty respectable. XP does move your EGO along, so does doing the main story missions and the side missions, time trials, hot shots and arkfalls. It is always a good idea to jump in on any fights you happen to find on your travels to increase your XP.
2) I see that I am earning all types of things from kills, missions, and other stuff, but how do I buy vehicles? I heard of something called bits???? is that the ingame currency?
You should have received one vehicle after completing the Sniper Ridge mission, the quadrunner. Make sure to open your loadout and equip it, then use the V key to summon it and E to ride it. Others you will find on various vendors you encounter as you travel through the world. The main in-game currency is scrip and it's used at the vendors. You will also get keycodes. Keycodes along with scrip can be used to buy lockboxes that contain random weapons. Bits are purchased for real money for use in the in-game store.
3) Is there a max level of EGO you can get to?
I don't know what the max EGO is, sorry.
4) Last night the map had a red ring on it, and I joined like 100 other people that were taking down this alien pod looking thing. It died and I did not see any loot from it. (glitch???)
The red thing is an arkfall. They are dynamic scripted events and you generally have to stay for the whole event in order to get real rewards. They often have phases that get progressively harder and if the group is successful you'll end up spawning a big boss mob to kill.
5) I ran out of ammunition while fighting the ARK.. or whatever thing is in the red ring.... so what is the best way to get more ammo?
Killing mobs gets you ammo, and there are chests scattered all over the map that will refill all the ammo for your equipped weapons. Arkfalls are pretty demanding in terms of ammo usage, so it's a good idea to make sure you have full magazines before you start and don't just blast things, make the shots count. You may want to make sure you have different weapon types that you can swap out if you run out of ammo for one weapon.
6) What is the overall goal of the game? Beat the single player mission and just PVP?
I don't know that there is one specific goal. There is the story line, but there are side missions that fill in the background story of the world, there are pursuits (like achievements) that can get you special outfits and titles, there's co-op missions you can do with groups, a few raids, the arkfalls and of course the PVP.
7) on my story missions... I noticed I would get bombarded by tons of enemies really quick. Is that normal to get killed so much, or should I be doing these missions with others?
Some missions are definitely easier with someone to watch your back, but really it comes down to using smart tactics and using cover, learning to roll and dodge, and finding the right weapon combination. It's never a smart idea to just go rushing in. Survey the area and take out the targets of opportunity. Also, grenades are your friend!
8) Is there an enemy level, or do they auto adjust to me?
The world is phased, meaning as you complete the main storyline, you will be moved into a different instance of the world from people that haven't completed as far as you have. It seems to me that the enemies get progressively more challenging as you progress along the storyline, and it's probably not a good idea to skip ahead into a new zone if you haven't finished all the missions in an area. I'm pretty sure the enemies have a specific level and do not adjust to you.
Thanks again.. for any help!
