Alone in the chat

Hi !

I've been playing for these 2 days like non-stop (i'm half-afk in a Red Arrow mission while i'm typing this (cool story bro)) and i've noticed something : My chatbox is always EMPTY.

It's like nobody is talking in the game, while I'm writting like "GG" after each event won, or trying to ask some questions (how to display ping ? etc etc) nobody seems to give a sh..

I'm writting in "Orange" color by the way, maybe this isn't the right "channel" ? It was like that by default. I feel alone even when i'm surrounded by people, makes me sick !

Any help ?

Fake edit : Okay, the only messages in my chat are "You are now bound to >XXXXX<" ..that's all.

Those "you are bound to" messages and other system info spam the 5 lines of chat so fast it is hard to see anything, I find. Chat needs a few options for those of us that like barrens chat

I think we all miss an active chat. Its pretty easy to feel alone in this game, unfortunetly.

Chat and social tools is one of this MMOs missing/underdevolped tools. For the most part, chat does not work, there seems to be no world wide or "zone" chat and you do not seem to have the option to make more chat windows. Hopefully they listen to the PC players and fix the many console port issues or the PC server may just die off.

There are a lot of issues with chat at the moment, chief of which is it seems that messages aren't always going through and connection to the chat server seems spotty at best. My clanmates and have noticed this over the past couple days. We're used to just using our mumble voice chat server anyway, but it's a huge hurdle when I meet someone new. Half the time my messages aren't seen by anyone but me.

Just stick with it, I'm sure this is on the top of their to-do list. When chat is working, it is lively.

I think our "chat" is part of the "console port-itis" this game suffers from. Totally inaddequate for a PC game, I hope they improve it for the PC crowd but I wonder why go through the trouble of making the crappy version we have now and not doing it right the first time.

Anywho I noticed a good bit of chatter...before I turned off the in-game voice because I like talking to my friends on Skype while playing and since Trion didn't put in a PTT funtion for voice chat I can't do that unless voice was turned off. I then saw a thread that said turning off voice chat turns off text chat as well.

I need a bigger face...and I guess another hand for all the facepalming I need to do at Trion.

I noticed one thing. If I turn off my voice in the game, people cannot see my texts. Since I'm using mumble with clan mates, I have to turn the automatic ingame VOIP which leads to nobody sees my messages in game.

I hope this will get fixed soon because it is very lonely.

Yes, it would seem chat is tied to this games crap Voice program. I have no idea why, just another stupid choice this dev team has made on the PC version.

...wow, really? That is..a really glaring design flaw. Well that certain explains some things, though I've seen the text chat issues even when the voice chat wasn't turned off (for instance, two clanmates could see each other's texts even though they both had voice turned off. No one else could see their chat though, and they were speaking in the Clan channel. :| )
