haha i bet you were one of those people who said dishonored was fun if you went all stealthy. "you're not playing it right if you run and gun." how you look at it? I look at it that the story is decent. It's an interesting world. The vehicles are kinda ****ty. But the fact is, WHAT YOU DO IN THE GAME is kill ****. over and over and over and over and over. but there's nothing to get out of it.

if there's nothing to get out of it, then what's the point?

also, yes, it isn't Rift. But ever hear of a game called Aliens: Colonial Marines? People had faith in Gearbox because they made Borderlands. And they were excited for the game to come out. A lot of things had been promised. Then it came out and bombed, people were pissed. Because they associated Gearbox with having done something decent in the ways of a shooter. Here people are pissed because they were used to Trion doing something decent in the ways of an MMO. hence the comparison.

If the gun I picked up 30 minutes into the game, ends up being the best weapon I get, I won't be impressed. You feel in a game, as you play, you will cost me across better weapons. As your level increases, you should then be able to obtain something stronger than someone who hasn't. If I have played the game 100+ hours, I feel I should have the ability to obtain weaponry and what not that is more powerful than someone who bought the game that day. It's the thrill of progression.

The reward system does need an overhaul. Because when you say "Beta weapons and weapon stats and loot tables do not reflect the retail game" and then turn around and have the exact same reward system from the beta, there's something wrong.

Is it better to out-monster the monster or to be quietly devoured?

I feel like this is just a state of limbo, where we kill the same mob we already killed with the same gun we've already been using, to go get scrip that the only half decent thing to spend on is damn vehicles, because all of the in store weapons suck, and there is no auction house. you just run do one identical side mission of kill this and turn these things on and escort that person. then do a story mission that may be slightly different, and never getting better weapons, just using the same thing until it "upgrades" itself and you get a slightly better item? With no huge impact? Plus half the mods i get for weapons, I cant even use, and they arent even that interesting in the first place. So is this just a giant circle jerk to see how long we can do the same thing without getting anything from it? After all, since they created rift, I expected a little more.
I understand where you're coming from here it took me a long time to catch on as well. If you ever try Dungeon Defenders you'll learn that there isn't that much difference in being level 10 than in being level 70 EXCEPT for the gear you can wear. In DD it's all about your gear. You gain power almost solely from what is equipped to you making it a loot heavy game.

Defiance on the other hand seems to be the polar opposite. It's all about your character level and ego rating. As your character personally grows stronger you will notice a progression difference. I'm EGO 200+ right now and still packing my Machinists' Machine Gun from the tutorial. However loot does play a simple part.

This game is all about finding the right gun STYLE for you. Not the right gun power. This way if you find a weapon you like as far as fire rate, ammo type, etc. then you don't have to worry about being forced to switch to another type just because that guns damage output is the only way for you to progress. I've gone overcharge all the way on my character. Pistols and anything with a small mag and high fire rate is just sort of wasting that. However LMGs give me a massive damage output that I'm loving. With the current system I don't ever have to worry about being forced to pack a pistol over my LMG because my old gun doesn't have the base damage to keep up.

    TLR
Not having periodic base damage increases in gun base damages allows you to focus on a particular gun style and use the versatile character upgrades to make a build around it. If you liked the gun you got in the tutorial congratulations you can still use it now that your ego level is way higher.

    exactly this. Thank you.

@Senoshu. What you said makes sense. Character upgrades not the gear. But I feel like my character still has the same play style, and I guess that's why little visual differences help put it in your mind that you're changing. If I still have the exact same gun and outfit i did 10 hours back, it frustrates me. But at least that's a logical answer, and not a hopeless fanboy response. Thank you.

loot system needs an overhaul yes

I have a lvl 50 weapon that is the same as a level 150 weapon, anyone who thinks that is fine needs their head checked. the 150 should do about 10 more damage per shot, have 10 more bullets in a mag (it's an LMG) and have less kick.

I only got 1 lock box and it was tier 4, i did get a purple rocket launcher that explodes into 5 little bombs though, not bad, but not amazing as the little bombs always miss the main target it seems.

Yep, also annoyed that every single tanker I've killed (15+ ATM) has dropped nothing, sometimes not even ammo and script, really sucks that they already lowered drops on a game with insanely small amount of drops, no point anymore in fighting mini bosses

Also confused way there's 10+ variations of shotguns but only 4-ish brands of shields I'm using a ego lvl 40 ironclad III and since then nothing's been better (current level is 298). There's no armour so you'd think they'd go all out on shield types
Be WARNED: I play Xbox with a mouse and a PlayStation move controller... I will out-shoot, out-turn, and out-play you every time at 4000 dpi... Just saying =]
