To be fair they are living in a hellish nightmare landscape where everything on Earth is capable of killing them in grizzly and horrific ways. It makes sense for them to develope odd habits in order to deal with it.
In regards to the ending though, it looked like it belonged to the last episode and they just stuck it here.

Loved the conversation between Amanda and Stahma:

I really, truly wish I could have been a fly on the wall when they shot that scene...wonder how many takes that took.

The ending was a real twist. Now for the mind-blowing part: What if Christi's baby...is actually the Viceroy's?
Who knows how long she's been playing around in that cosplay club? Just puttin' that out there...

meh, this episode felt less like science fiction, and more like a bad reality tv episode. The paintjobs were amusing, it felt like a casti drag queen revue...more laughable than offensive.

It seems that defiance has jumped on board the HBO/Showtime bandwagon and mentality, where it's better to cover up bad writing with gratuitous fake sex, than trying to make a halfhearted attempt at real sci-fi.

The episode was "meh,Ok" could have been better without most of the dramas, and psudosex. but that's just my personal opinion.

Honestly, if I wanted to watch a soap opera, then there's a channel for that. It's like they give us 15 minutes of actual sci-fi, then follow it up with 45 minutes of drama lamas, and booty grind.

I'm disappointed in this episode. We get a momentous introduction of a new alien race, and conflict...and it gets buried under the weight of personal dramas, and butsex. If I wanted to watch a social commentary, or two people enjoying each other...I've got the internet for one, John Stewart and the Colbert Report for the other, and they do a much better job of it respectively.

So leave the dramas and the bumpin' uglies to the professionals, and stick to a sci-fi based high fiber diet please.

Nolan & Berlin just don't fit Nolan's established character. The writers have gone off course.

Nolan's established character is that he'll dip his wick in anything that stands still long enough for him to get his pants down. To me it was about the only thing that made sense in that whole episode.
