They've effectively made arkforge pretty useless.
I agree. Many players would upgrade to orange (not always cheap) and then keep upgrading rating (also needing Arkforge). Now, I have a ton of Arkforge because I have the Veteran free Patron Pass, the free Patron Pass time from the TV codes, plus the free 30 days from finding the Gamestop Ultimate edition on deep sale last month. But a lot of the newer players don't have an Arkforge horde and would likely be looking at Bits to get some.

The problem with Trick's "chase the loot" is that the Loot tables' RNG absolutely sucks. The grind to EGO 5000 is boring as all get out as the content gets stale before you get there (at least for me). Lockboxes are a joke. I pretty much only buy the damned things anymore when I am at the max 100 keys, and that's just to get rid of the keys.

Rare =/= good in this game. That's part of the problem with the loot system and is why that kind of take on the ability to upgrade rarity doesn't really hold much water. Finding a blue weapon with three good rarity bonuses and being able to upgrade it twice and dodge the bullet of getting a mediocre to outright useless Epic rarity bonus and then get one of the better Legendary ones is still a very rare thing requiring a significant investment of time.

Exactly that. I was also lucky to get all the Veteran perks, so my favorite weapons are already orange. I have never and WILL never buy a lockbox (I mean, who wants four auto lobbers?) - who the hell does? People buy outfits and/or ARKFORGE...

I guarantee their bit sales will drop, not increase. They will find that out soon enough.

Please read it carefully, after the expansion comes out items that drop have a CHANCE of having the encryption status. These items have higher stats than other weapons which leads it to only being able to have the rarity upgraded once. The normal weapons will still be able to be brought all the way to oj

nah because people will still be upgrading purples to OJ since they are easier to get, which also happens to be the most expensive upgrade.. lol...

it's already stupidly expensive to upgrade a purple to orange while the cost of upgrading whites and greens are tiny in comparison... I'd imagine a majority of the ark forge spent on upgrades overall was purple to OJ anyway

honestly tho the whole idea of being able to upgrade rarity, level and such is silly in a game where chasing loot is important anways

you seem to be missing the point... the loot chasing (including rarity and the randomness) exists for the sole purpose of INCREASING the time investment required to get the stuff you want... letting you upgrade the items is doing exactly the opposite... letting you upgrade the rarity like we can now is basically just killing the point of the system and handing the rare items (which are no longer rare) to anyone who can buy some ark forge

also rare=good in pretty much every game that uses a rarity system for items... if it didn't there would be no reason for them to want them and the whole system would be pointless

Not sure about that. It says normal weapons will become encrypted after a rarity upgrade, so unless it's already purple, it won't reach OJ.

I would agree with you if they hadn't nerfed the quality of the loot drops. Guess how many OJ's I've picked up in my time of playing from noob to 5K'er - maybe around 8 in total and not one that was worth keeping. Most of them didn't even have synergies.

Green dlc weapon reward for incursions... poke in the eye.

I understand it to mean that once an item's rarity has been upgraded, it becomes encrypted and thus can no longer be upgraded.
