I am literally flabbergasted by the existence of this blog post.

This particular quote just about made the top of my head come off:

“…And as we dig through this data from the past 2 months we realize the mistake we made: our introduction of essentially unlimited rarity upgrades removed the item chase from the game for many of our players.”

You really had no idea this change would eliminate the loot chase?

And you say that you take our feedback seriously? Here read this, from BEFORE you introduce Arkfraud:

    http://forums.defiance.com/showthrea...orge-Excuse-me

Waddya know, a lengthy discussion by your players about the fact that this will DESTROY the loot chase.

Just like the lengthy discussion we had about Grenade Ammo being needed before you ruined grenades and then eventually added Grenade Ammo.

I honestly don’t care about this Arkfraud change, but your reactionary approach to game development as opposed to any amount of forethought or testing is sad, really just sad.

This kind of reminds me of Diablo. People used to buy stuff off the AH because quality gear rarely dropped in the game. You had crap like monk gear with intellect on it. Most of the time you had to just buy it off the AH, because the odds of finding good gear in game were so low as to be almost non-existent. Blizzard wised up, but they did it the right way:

    1) The increased the odds of rare and legendary loot drops. They even made it so that you had guaranteed legendary drops based on various rules.

    2) The re-worked the loot generator, so it would not give you useless stats (e.g. intellect or strength for a monk; dexterity or intellect for a barbarian, etc).

So in short they changed the game so you had to find the loot, but they made it easier to find the loot, and they made the loot you found useful. No more junk stats.

Trion needs to learn from Blizzard. If they are going to remove the ability to upgrade an item more than once, which is how players overcome the craptastic drop rates and horrible itemization, then they need to increase the drop rates and improve the itemization (i.e. stop putting useless stats on weapons). Otherwise, players will keep seeing crappy weapon after crappy weapon. A person can only grind for so long before the dull promise of an upgrade becomes buried under the tedium of trying to acquire it.

I'm to the point that I don't really care. I just sit back in my chair and play the game with a smile on my face. Their abysmal leadership, design changes, et. al. are crushing the game from within. They can only kick down so many columns before the house comes tumbling down.
I liked the bit about "transparency" in the release notes for Silicon Valley.
    I giggled.

    Oh...BTW...I have your shield you're looking for...on XBOX360 though :P

Personally I don't care about these changes one way or the other, it wont make me buy Arkforge or Lockboxes from the store and unless they put some more outfits in there I probably wont be buying any bits at all

As a low level noob, I'm completely fine with the update, in fact I aprove it. You see, getting purple drops isn't particulary hard in the game. So, instead of picking a blue or orange weapon with good rolls, just wait till you get a purple weapon to upgrade to orange. Now, the problem is the rolls right? Some weapons come with horrible rolls that make them garbage vs the same weapon with perfect rolls. But all that will change when the Salvage matrix new reroll functions come kicking in. This update is just paving the way towards the matrix update, and cant be considered completed until that one arrives. Otherwise, you would be able to pick any white weapon and level it up to a perfect orange with arkforge, and that sounds like a horrible pay to win system.

F2P will just have to wait a little bit longer, veterans enjoyed a fair time of prosperity and won't lose much really once the updated system is complete (rerolls implementation). If anything, I would additionally restric weapon rarity upgrades and rerolls by level. Another nice adjustment would be to increase the damage/capacity bonus to 5+%, 3% is just not worth anything.

I'd rather pay for a totally blank weapon then upgrade it to something I actually want, rather than do the "Loot Lottery" where the odds of actually getting what you want are worse than zero.

I can see a shed load of arkforge being bought in store or ground out in game before Silicon Valley arrives.

The more they "Improve" the game the less enjoyment....

Grenade gate - nerf the amount of grenades you have to 5 of each = more inventory slots sold. As us players now need to carry one of each type of grenade.

Warmaster lockgate - support the lock breakers over the lockkeepers, instead of letting those taking part in a WM come to somesort of common sence compermise.

OP lockon Defiant Few Weapons - nerfed by PVP players - who never seam to be playing when I need the PVP daily / weekly task.

glad they finally weakened the ability of arkforge. It was an abused system in which instead of people focusing on getting legendaries or trading from to have an item they are all picky and unwilling to spend for a good but not perfect one. I have sold over 200 items before dlc 5 and under 10 guns since then.
