Surely this is going to slow sales of Arkforge though? It's hard to get more than a trickle earned ingame these days, and upgrading a promising weapon from green or blue is costly and fraught with RNG danger at every turn...

This is horrible. Most of my inventory is already lagged behind b/c I can't afford to keep them on level with my character in this new p2w weapon model, and now I'll be severely limited in what I can create, which takes out a huge chunk of the fun and drive to get more Arkforge in the first place. Before I could get a white Berzerker shotgun and make it into a Purple or Orange somewhat useful beast (even though ur chances of getting the bonus stat rolls u really want is uber low), and now I won't be able to do even that (even though it would cost a pretty penny's worth of Arkforge to generate that weapon, and then holy crap the amount you'd need to keep it current with your character's climbing EGO, jeez).

Since I started playing again I've seen ONE purple item drop on the ground (Volge siege). The rest have mostly been from lockboxes, hehehe (yep), along with a couple oranges... which have all been nerfed into uselessness (a sawn-off shottie) or useless to begin with (magnum). Never anything I actually want/can use in a competitive scenario such as a War Master event or Arkfalls/Sieges or even PvP.

Even T4 lockboxes give mostly blue, so I don't even have that many purple atm, at least useful ones I haven't had to sell given the precious little inventory we have access to.

I wish TRION would make shotguns useful again. I love how they nerfed an entire weapon category into the ground because of the small, cramped, close-quarters, tons of cover every 4 feet, level design of their competitive DM mode. *rolls eyes*

Mission accomplished I guess. I now have tons of space available where as I did not before this announcement, and the game of Defiance has hundreds of weapons less that would have definitely been upgraded to orange by myself or someone else. I wonder how much arkforge would have been spent on those weapons in total... tens of thousands I am guessing. Shrug. I sure hope you were not expecting me to use my arkforge on those guns to bring them all up to purple before this took effect, if so, you were sorely mistaken Trion.

How much space is too much now? I carry around 115 inventory spaces currently, should I upgrade?

This thread has triple the views as stickied threads from over 7 months ago lol. Trion, admit how much of a failure this is. I make sure to tell people in game not to spend really money because they're getting scammed. I'm really starting to hate this game. They must be *** buddies with Nexon or something.

May have had more posts, but if you read it there are posts on both sides of the fence here. Some support, some do not. I am indifferent as I just got back in to playing.

Personally speaking. It was never about the chase with me. It was about shooting things in the face (and improving my skill doing so) with weapons I liked to use for any myriad of reasons (Mission reward/RP; Name; Look; etc.). That was all the progression I needed - getting better at playing the game.

I don't understand how people think the rarity upgrade ruined the value of OJs. The value of OJs was/is ruined by the fact that OJs are more often than not, not the best weapon in the game. That was one of my initial beefs with the game to begin with - getting my first OJs was pointless because the white rarity weapons I enjoyed using were still better at the time. The fix to bonus rolls helped correct that slightly, but again out of all the OJs I have since acquired, there may be two that I actually have found useful (and I don't think I even like the synergy's on them, so they still aren't the "Best").

The problem we have here is not that we have the ability to upgrade weapons to OJ (I loved it because I can upgrade my favorite weapons and continue to have them be useful and effective in this new age of progression in the game - it is the only reason I am still playing), but the fact that we are focusing on the wrong point of "the chase."

"The Chase" should not be about luck of RNG getting a certain color, but "The Chase" should be about progressing and playing in the game to acquire materials that allow you to build a better quality of weapon. The fact that I can earn arkforge in game, and then make my weapon better is more meaningful to me than the luck of random drops or lockboxes. It doesn't matter how valuable they make the lockboxes going forward. My value in the game comes from the time I put in with the weapons I prefer to use and as a result using the rewards I get to make those weapons better.

That is the definition of "more fulfilling chase." There is nothing fulfilling about luck of the draw.
