I dont get it. What will the difference be between encrypted and unencrypted guns? How will this effect existing inventory? Why is there going to be a % chance to drop an encrypted item? And finally, why are they changing mechanics again?

Encrypted weapona give a 3% bonus to damage and cannot have their rarity be upgraded. They are making these changes so that the loot chase as they call it is more satisfying instead of upgrading to legendary all the time.

A. Encrypted weapons have more DMG and shields have more Cap. Encrypted gears rarity cant be increased.

A. All of your Ojs will be encrypted when you log in after the patch.

A. So most of the good stuff we get cant be upgraded.

A. Because people stopped buy as many lockboxes. Most people stopped because they nerfed forge drops but Tri** doesnt understand that.

If they would just fix lock boxes and worthless rolls/synergies (BMG with RT for example) then people would be more inclined to buy lock boxes. There was probably a spike in lock boxe purchases when they actually dropped something good (forge) at a decent rate.

And here I thought it was just another intentional roadblock by Trion. So every time I get an awesome weapon that I can't do anything with, I can thank encryption for making me go on a "long and fulfilling chase" to find that same but unencrypted weapon?

They actually gave approximate percentages of the likelihood of an item NOT being encrypted. I don't recall the odds offhand, but the chances were specifically stated.

I would say I am lucky for not getting my perfect weapons yet, but I know Trion. Immediately after I get it they change it to something else.

So every legendary item will be encrypted after the patch? Thats gonna be an awful lot of encrypted stuff. Can we still upgrade the ego on these? I still think I'm missing some vital info here.

Yes you can still upgrade the rating on encrypted items.

Our great and glorious leader Trick said that 1 in 5 will not be encrypted.
