    To all who have problems with Chat being black or invisible!

    1. Log in with any character.
    2. Open Settings -> Chat.
    3. Set Chat Size and Chat Duration to something non-zero.
    4. Set Color Scheme to something other than the empty string.
    5. Log out and log back in, should work now.

    Hope this helps.

    If you change the color scheme, it's better to log out/in for it to fully change.

    To: Keeper Riff and CM Kiwibird, could you give a more detailed step by step on how to do this?

    1. Log in with any character.
    2. Open Settings -> Chat.
    3. Set Chat Size and Chat Duration to something non-zero.
    4. Set Color Scheme to something other than the empty string.
    5. Log out and log back in, should work now.

    1.Is this the screen that shows my character or in the game? (I've tried both)
    2.Is this in the Gameplay tab? I don't have a dedicated Chat tab.
    3.My sliders for chat size and duration are at Max(all the way to the right) and I can not adjust them at all,up or down.
    4.Where do I find Color Scheme? I only have 5 options under chat: "Show Friend Notification", "Chat Font Size", "Chat Fade Duration", "Profanity Filter", and "Push to talk"
    5. Haven't tried this step yet.
    Kiwibird I also looked at your fix but I don't seem to have the "Chat Tabs" you are talking about....see number 4. in my post. How do I find these other tabs? Thanks

    if all else fails, I fixed mine by resetting chat settings to default.
