I agree with OP.
But eod there will always be folks who want to 'complete' the game in the first day and have the time to actually do this. If you do as you said and do all the different elements of the game it will take you quite a while, especially if you have to factor in work/social life.
Really pleased i got this game, can't wait to play it out over the next few months and see where it takes me. Well worth £30 and a great addition to my pc game collection.
There is no point being EGO 5000... except a few more perk slots opened ( not THAT big of a difference, but still small upgrades ), that's the difference between Defiance and a real MMO. You can finish the main questline in a day ( okay a 12 hours day, but still.. ) and it makes no difference what EGO you are. In other MMOs, you have levels requirement, here I just join Random co op map and I can do any of them, even when I wouldn't have the EGO for it, if I'm lucky and it puts me with someone with a much higher EGO...
That's why I'm taking my time and completing Pursuits. Then watch, people will ask me how did I unlock certain outfits.
Defiance - Sarah Cross
Clan - Aristocrats

I'm savoring the experience. I've done every side quest offered to me, and I'm lv 129 without even doing many actual story missions. In fact, I think I've done 4. Most of my time has been spent doing Arkfalls, challenges, and side quests. When I finally play the final story mission, I'm going to have done EVERYTHING. Then? PvP. Lots to do.
I've said it before.. I'll say it again: People that rush any MMO to the "end game" tend to miss out on EVERYTHING that really makes a game great (or in some games, really makes it shtako!). I enjoy taking my time and finding all the little perks, tweaks, and whatnot.. as well as REALLY diving into the numbers for weapons and skills.
I think there is plenty in the game to keep the average player occupied for now.
The team keep talking about there intend to release new content every week once the show starts, so my hope is that some of those updates will have a substantial amount of content to them.
Like, there is a lot more stuff made for the game so far, but they can't release it until the show reaches a certain point so that it makes sense chronologically.
We only have to wait 2 weeks to see what the first update brings, hopefully it won't disappoint!
See, the thing is, the reason the game feels so short is because of how fast the vehicles move and how readily available they are. Instead of walking 50m people just hop on their mount and ride off into the sunset.
And completing the main quests in an MMO doesn't constitute beating it. Think of it like WoW, you do quests until you hit level cap, then you take on the really hard stuff and grind better gear, that's the appeal of MMOs, my friend.
Except the difference is, most MMOs at launch have vast landscapes and different territories/regions. You can drive across "vanilla Defiance" and back in 10 minutes. I just hope any new areas will be free DLC, because if Trion expects people to pay for a world that can't be finished in one day's sitting, they're gonna lose a lot of players. I think in two days, I'm probably 70% done with not only the main missions, but side missions and challenges as well. And I wasn't even playing that hard.
Im definately not seeing the game.... not until the 12th anyhow..
