This time, this is the jackpot weapon. Next time, it will be different, and we're definitely interested in what kind of weapons you'd like to see included here.

Additionally, we're looking at other ways to make lockboxes more appealing. This plays into the recent talk of less desirable weapons that have been brought up on the forums. While we still plan to revisit some of these less desirable weapons, we also plan on revisiting this topic.
Kiwi you are awesome and not hard on the eyes either.
But, it seems like no one over there can see that this is too little too late.
Getting 64 keys takes hours now and the chance for this super drop is almost certainly off the charts low. The grind is becoming too much of a grind. I really wish you guys would just put the rewards back to where they were. Or at least close to where they were.
it's not more desirable if it takes too long to achieve. I work 6 days a week and have little time to play. At the reward accumulation speed now the jackpot will change before I have a decent shot at getting it.

Well, this doesn't address the issue at hand. Non DLC owners are at risk of pulling something they can't use from a lockbox, and that's something that should never happen. Will there be some check on jackpot weapons to ensure only DLC owners may pull DLC specific weapons?

If not, there's a major flaw in the lottery ... kinda like winning a car at a raffle when you have no driving license.

The big prize is nothing but vendor trash, if we can't afford to keep the rating at our EGO level. There's a reason why I keep my gear at tier 3 for the most part.

Sounds contradictory to a previous post.

    1. Now that Silicon Valley is live, what are the updated priorities for the Defiance team?
Stability is our first priority. We’ve had a huge surge of players into the game, both new and returning, and we’d like to provide a consistent stable experience. We’re going free to play on the consoles shortly, and any stability improvements will also help them.
We’re continuing to balance the in-game economy. To do this we’re looking at both how often we give out rewards and what quality they come out at. This has been discussed at length in other threads, and we’re continuing to work on it. Check out PTS as we update further.
We have two more batches of Silicon Valley missions coming along, and we’re giving them all the attention they need.
    2. Why is it that when you fast travel to the south of Silicon Valley can you see the rest of the world, but you can't when you move to elsewhere in the map?
We actually have a build on PTS right now where the whole of North and South bay are visible at once. When we first built Silicon Valley, we had it split from the world to maximize stability and server performance. However, we’ve since placed it on the same server and we’re testing the effects of unifying the bay area map. At the Water Temple, you can see the unintentional results of an early test of that unification.
    3. Will more fast travel points be added to Silicon Valley?
With two fast travel points in Silicon Valley, we see no reason to add more until there is more land to cover.
    4. Will more storyline be added to Silicon Valley in the future?
We’ve got two more batches of missions coming up. Events with the Guiding Light are going to heat up, and there’s more going on with Karl Von Bach as well.
    5. Can the newest synergies only be obtained from the Corporate Espionage lockbox or is there a chance to get them in loot drops/rewards as well?
The Corporate Espionage synergies can only be obtained from the Corporate Espionage Lock Box. We will be introducing more exclusive synergy lock boxes in the future as well.
    6. Will we see some new awesome Defiant Few gear, and gear from other vendors in the near future?
We’ve got some new gear lined up still in Season 2, but it’s less related to our factions and more about our overall game economy. A lot of our economy overhaul comes from making gear more exciting, so we’ve got gear improvements lined up, but we’re not focusing on the faction merchants at present.
    7. Destroy the Crystal Minor Arkfalls were removed because it was more interesting to fight other enemies instead of fighting a static target. Why were these mechanics added again for the Gulanee Arkbreaks and the new Silicon Valley Incursions?
We’re re-tuning the Gulanee Arkbreak so that the Comms Systems are speedbumps rather than monolithic damage sinks. I’m not happy with that section of the arkbreak for exactly the same reasons I dislike the old destroy arkfalls. The Silicon Valley incursions have already seen one update and we’ve got another coming. The Evangels have a player activated means of bringing them down more quickly – destroying the Guardians to make the Evangel reveal its weak points – but the Evangels are still just too durable. We’ve got two updates coming to them to give players more significant decisions when fighting them.
    8. I was knocked down just once. At the end of the invasion with the post stats screen comes up it stated I had only 11 kills and something like 2k score. Am I lead to believe that the cost of death at an invasion is so extreme that they will take your entire score and kills down to 0?
Death and extraction carry huge penalties because they are significant events. This is working as intended. Death is a serious matter that carries steep penalties. Be careful when putting your life at risk.
    9. Can we expect some kind of addition to the SV terrain in the future? Maybe you can start to build an island cluster or something.
We are planning on expanding further south in the future. We’ve discussed both going as far south as San Jose, but we’re also interested in expanding to other areas of the Defiance universe.
    10. Could we have a sight mod which has a NPC sniper or Helibot laser sight trail thingey?
That rifle effect is very processor intensive, so we have to be very careful how many we render on the screen at a time. As such, we cannot make it available to players.
    11. Occasionally I complete an Incursion when in Silicon Valley and receive no rewards on completion, is this a known issue?
It is a known issue! It took us a little while to track down, but it had to do with the overlapping events with the Silicon Valley Conflict sites. This caused score to be added to the wrong event. Once we tracked down the cause, it was a relatively simple fix. We should have it out to PTS then to live shortly.
    12. Can you elaborate on the changes that have been made to the cost of Keycodes?
Keycodes have been multiplied in price by 10x. Additionally, they now drop much less frequently as the rewards for score. As soon as we started giving an in-depth look at reward balancing, we discovered that we could not improve rewards without drastically reducing their flow into the game. Rewards were coming so frequently that even good gear was being discarded as people sought only the highest gear. There was no adaptation or development of new tactics as a response to available resources because ark hunters could reliably maintain their most familiar loadout from an early EGO rating right to the endgame. In order to make gear more rewarding and significant, we need to reduce the flow of gear first.
    13. Could we get an update from the team on the status of disconnect and latency issues?
We hope to have a post about this up next week showing our progress.
    14. Is there an estimate on when we will get the ability to change the synergy or rolls on our guns?
We do not have an estimate for this. As we’ve looked into the rewards systems we have in place, we’ve found that there are higher priorities than rerolling or replacing synergies and bonuses on existing weapons. It’s still on the books, but it’s not on the books for the near future.
    15. Can we get an update on the PS3 and F2P?
Due to how Sony deploys new (updated) products, our North American PlayStation 3 servers will be down on Tuesday, August 12 for a restart when the deployment occurs (estimated between 12:00 PM PDT and 4:00 PM PDT [GMT-7]). We will post an absolute outage window next week when this time is finalized. The same will occur for our European PlayStation 3 servers on Wednesday, August 13. The team is working closely with Microsoft to launch Defiance Free-to-Play on Xbox 360 and we’ll post an announcement about the transition when we’ve finalized the date.
    16. Can we have a newbie section on the forums?
Yes! We will be restructuring the forums and will include a New Recruit section.
Whats the point of a jackpot weapon if we're not given the resources to maintain it?

A developer is only as good as the last thing they released.
-Rift- was why i was willing to spend $160 pre-ordering the ultimate edition of Defiance a couple weeks before launch.
-Defiance- is why i won't buy another Trion title at full price if at all.

I'd like to get back to this. This is incorrect.

All weapon/build/tactics combinations have extensively been used and tested in combat, and players settled on a limited subset of those because they work much better than others. No matter what rationale you're using, there is no sensible reason to use subpar gear and inappropriate builds, which this move tries to force us to.

There are no "new tactics" to develop because we already tested all of them and discarded those that don't work, or don't work well enough. Ark hunters are professionals, right ?
They want weapons fitting for professionals, with battle proven efficiency. Would you put your life on the line with makeshift gear and hastily assembled skills ?

Probably not intentional, but this indirectly acknowledges some generated weapons -be it loot, boxes or rewards- come with meaningless synergies.

Oh, I knew what it meant. Just making my "believe it when I see it" approach known.

Just using my "straight to the point" approach, as usual. Sometimes the best method to get an idea across is to simply state it clearly, implications and sarcasm have their limits after all.
