There was mention on the livestream yesterday too, I think. PS3 is locked, period, because Sony sucks. Apparently Xbox players aren't supposed to be region locked, but are at the moment, and that's being worked on by Trion and MS.

Due to architecture of the Playstation Network PS3 will always be region locked. Xbox360 starts out as region locked but as was mentioned Trion and MS are trying to work it out so you can select which region you log into.

i wonder why that si consider there ae LOTS of PS3 games that arent region locked... even some that started off locked (modnation racers) but was unlocked later

Ugh, region lock was reported by the players on the first day of the console betas. It wasn't until ~75 hours before release that Trion confirmed that the console versions would be region locked, at least for the 360. This is contrary to the information that Trion provided in almost every livestream for months previously. Please don't post erroneous information.
