Meh. If you came into an incursion/siege during the beginning and can't break 27k, even now, all I really have to say is get good (regardless of EGO level- it's NOT hard, seriously). In a big event, nobody should have to extract anyway, because reviving someone else gives you that player's points from getting incapacitated.
If you're regularly dying often enough for this to matter, it means that something's gone terribly wrong and you're in the middle of enemies you can't handle.
The whole death penalty came about as a result of The creative team not caring for the extract and return tactic used in warmaster events. That being the case I don't think the new scoring tweaks are going to have an impact on that mechanic.

Now here's the problem with that. When you are a new player you die a lot in this game. Even with a good weapon with mods AND decent armour. The enemy mobs are like a bullet sponge in this game...COME ON! GOOD GRIEF...I should not have to unload five magazines into a mob to kill it when it can kill me in two hits (normal mob in an invasion). There is something very wrong here. In Firefall I can go in with a green gun and medium mods and still take down a mob in a realistic amount of time. In this game it's just absurd.
Mobs and zones in Firefall have fixed level so you can choose where to go to feel good. Defiance initially did not have mobs levels at all and then devs decided to add vertical progression and did it in Trion's style. Now the game is very cruel to newbies. All their weapons are awfully ineffective and low amount of health points and shield capacity makes them very squishy. Now I have only one advice for new players: just don't try to do anything solo until you get to EGO 1000+ to match threat level 1 (one) at least. Stuck to big crowded events, don't go to the first line of battle and just level up your EGO and your weapon skills and don't forget to keep your equipment close to your EGO level. Once you hit EGO 1000 you can do events with TL1 more easily and questing and soloing would be more possible.
I had an opinion for this, but then thought: if the 180 Scrip penalty is too high for new players; get better.
Scrip is easy to make. SHOOT STUFF!
There actually is a reason for the never ending buffet of bad guys near the E-Rep camp.
They are NOT talking about scrip. They are talking about the point penalty when you die.
A: You die and lose 180 scrip = Who cares? That can be remade by selling the crappy loot drops back to a vendor
B: You get incapacitated at an event = you lose 1000 points.
C: You get killed at an event = you lose 3000 points.
Point A isn't a problem since most agree that the scrip is easy to re-earn. Points B and C used to make sense, but the recently nerfed how many points one can get at an event. So, they should also nerf the incapacitation and death penalties for balance.

I'm absolutely agree with OP - current penalty is stupidly big.
They made monsters are stupidly strong, they able to oneshot even 5k+ players!
