As opposed to the guy who kills a crap load of skitterlings or running in to stuff with cars...preventing crystal weakpoints and ammo drops. Not saying a high kill count is always the case with that, but damage done is a better gauge.
Damage done + kill count is the best gauge of all. If someone is tops for both, they pretty well wrecked it.
Healers/revives are appreciated, but not really necessary as far as Arkfalls go. At least not for the ones we have available. Folks can just hop, skip, jump and drive right back within seconds. Pre patch, they could get ammo where they respawned usually. It doesn't matter now since ammo is plentiful.
This game owns but there are a few things that need to be tweaked!
1.) Arkfall loot tables... Everyone should get loot but top 3 should get better rewards!
2.) The loot system in general feels bland
3.) Stats on items and mods feel bland
Loot should absolutely not be based on the top 1-3 damage dealers, because damage is not the only loadout in this game, what about the people tanking all the damage, what about the people decoying all the damage away, what about the people healing and adding shielding to other players?
Loot should be handed out to people who PARTICIPATED THE MOST in the arkfall by just being their the longest, just because you choose a dps loadout does not entitle you to more loots than someone who picked a utility loadout
No, being in there should have a small factor in who gets what, I could just sit on the edge of a arkfall and twiddle my thumbs for 20 minutes and get loot? I totally agree with the top 10 getting the highest end on the loot table. I don't think damage should be the ONLY factor though. I think people who heal with BMG's should have stats for healing and get loot accordingly,only separate from the damage dealers. As in there should be a separate loot tables for damage and healing.
I will say this, the loot tables are absolutely awful and honestly it's just worthless to go to Arkfalls, you get no real reward other than scrip and xp which you get more by just questing correctly.
For those of you who have not played Rift....this is the exact way Rift's(it's version of arkfalls) started out. Probably the exact same ranking algorithm. They will do away with the ranking system, turn it into a strictly currency based reward(if it's not already, which in my opinion really sucks) and provide basically random higher rewards to a select few who've participated throughout the entire arkfall. Is that system "fair"? Yeah, it really is....but that system is not fun, does not encourage one to "try" and turns them into snooze fests where you show up just for the free rewards, doing as little as required for the present and participating achievement.
Hopefully these things won't come to pass...but the good and bad thing about Trion is that they do listen to their customers.... There is only so much damage, so much healing, and so many kills to be had. Should the people who try their *** off but get 'sniped' out of a Rank 1 reward? Should only the top 10 get rewards, if and when the majority of players figure out what to do to get a high score? Meh....we'll see what happens.
So the rich get richer? Give better guns to the guys who have better guns?
That particular arkfall I ended up doing one of the precursor falls about 75% on my own because the only other guy that showed up to help popped in at the 25% mark, died at the 50% mark, and never came back.
And as for my not focusing on kills. You only have to kill the crystals, the mouths, the monarchs, and the final boss so I only target the pustules on the crystals, the mouths, the tails of the monarchs after rolls and their bellies during their rear up attack, and the tail of the final boss. If I'm shooting at anything else it's probably an archer or a blast pod and only because it keeps knocking me on my ***. That's how you should play that particular arkfall, as opposed to blinding everyone with explosives other than grenades and running around in your car knocking the freshly disabled monarchs out of the line of fire like everyone else does trying to rack up kills. The little stuff is for the most part harmless, people need to learn to focus fire on the objective enemies.
Did a major arkfall once with 40+ people, got first place by a good margin.. got 5 keystones.. no loot.. decided that **** aint for me..
The reward really does not in anyways reflect the effort.
Not too hard to get in the top 5 of a major arkfall event. Once I finally understood how the arkfall events are managed I was able to get into the #2 spot on my first try....and that was using a shotgun.![]()
