If you designed an mmo what would you do that no one else has done?

Ive played alot of mmo's and they all seem to follow the same outline. Ill list a few examples then ill go on to show what i would do different.

    1. Static npc with epic gear want you to kill x amount of baddies and he will reward you. "Funny thing is looking at his gear he could do this task himself in 1 swing."
    2. go to objective kill everything that moves flip switch guard switch from what seems like endless waves of monsters. Die alot flip switch again and again and again until timer runs out kill all that is left boss spawns kill him objective complete.
    3. locate object collect object get ambushed kill everything move to next object get ambushed again blah blah blah.
    4. Raid time go to location of freakishly huge almost impossible to kill Boss die many time finally kill boss and get crap loot but someone in the group got something awesome so you keep doing them hoping for your number to drop. But when i finally does its loot you cant use "need dlc" or dont use "not your build or class". Back to square 1
    5. Repetition the same mission over and over just new location with different dialog.

I could go on and on here but it would stray us from my intended reason for making this post. Think of the mmos or single player rpgs you have played and tell me what you would do that would create some thing that hasnt been done in an mmo. This could be gameplay, team options, Clan/Guild options, Story progression what ever its an open floor to discuss how you could change the mmo rpg genre.

Heres one of my ideas Feel free to add to this if you want.

    The Ultimate Raid
The Ultimate Raid would happen every weekend and last the whole weekend. I would link all shards in one command center. Clan leaders their second and third in command would all be linked here in a chat room with a realtime overview of the battlefield. "Clans with less than 4 players would only have 1 representative in the command center and the rest would be attached to a larger clan. They would still get orders from their leader though. Clan less players would be assigned to these smaller clans to boost their rank also." All participating clans would be occupying the all the server shards and would be assigned to certain locations on the map in their shard. That location would be closed off to non participating players if they enter this zone they will be alerted with a pop up asking if they would like to participate in the war. They would then be randomly assigned to a clan to help in the fight. The locations in this fight would be non story or side mission locations just neutral locations. Clan leaders can join the fight but can return or be summoned back to the command center at any time. Clan leaders would have control over which fight their clan is in meaning if the fight on their shard is under control they can shift their clan to another fight that is failing. The last day of the war the enemy Generals appear on each shard. Each General will Drop epic loot 1 item per player but heres the incentive to work as a team and kill him as fast as you can. once hes down your leader can shift his clan to another General for another chance to get loot. The loot is the players incentive the clan incentive would be upgrades to their guild/ clan lair The more a clan participates in the war the more credits they get for reputation and to purchase items for their lair. This would give small clans a chance to be seen on the leader boards as well.

This is just one of my ideas ive never seen this mechanic utilized before and could be used in any genre.
Feel free to comment or expand on my idea and please share your own also.

I'd leave PvP out of it, and make gear irrelevant.

I agree with the pvp but the gear being irrelevant not so much. To make gear unimportant the story would have to be epic. Epic enough to not care about rewards or money. I dont see that being possible in any game. Unless your playing Mario Bros

For the first year of Defiance, gear was pretty irrelevant. The gear relevancy only became an issue after the Ark revolting.....er I mean Ark revolution Dlc was released with threat levels.
