If you remove dlcs pvp and races yeah its difficult but I did the races before they got nerfed by 10-20 seconds per race. Before you couldn't make any mistakes but when I tried earlier I only smashed into 3 trucks when I got gold on a race. They will add new pursuits yes but its funny seeing people get annoyed about how difficult this game is when I can create a character now and hit 5k before November if I go back to even half the hours I used to play.
I'm not sure if people are actually claiming levelling is too hard, i think you are janking things out of their context just to suit your badly founded argument. I too have many problems with the driving pursuits, my laptop cant handle it, or the servers cant handle it or my 39 yr old fingers and brain cant handle it i don't know. It's just not fun to do! I don't play a shooter to play Mario cart like sub-games that directly influence everything else in the main game. I Detest PVP but i understand its place in this game... racing pursuits!? sorry no! It has no place here, keep it as a fun side event for those that like it but its not part of the game play, nor is driving a part of the show or even the Defiance universe. Its just a badly implemented, bad idea to get car makers to jump on board as sponsors in a disgusting cash grab attempt leaving us players with this shjtako. Check your self next time!

I think one of the original devs must have liked playing Rage. Only in Rage the racing actually works. Very few say the leveling is hard per se. It's just tedious, boring, and has very little resemblance to anything I would call fun. when you have to wait for the gates to spawn due to server lag, it makes finishing under the time limit a bit impossible. The best is having your runner repossessed just before the finish line on a gold medal run.
    1.05 shotgun mag boost? REALLY?

Playing at launch for a few months until season one was over. I think the game was much harder early on. When I came back during season two I felt the game was much easier. I managed to gold the races where I could only silver them before. Leveling got much easier and the volte are kittens now.

For a MMO grind Defiance is actually quite generous compared to other MMO games, which force you to grind months to max out your level.

I started only 5 weeks ago, and I'm almost reaching 5000

... It would have been faster if the LAGs were not here, so I could have continue to play my favourite Siege / Incursions

When my EGO was going up I spent real money to keep my “Orange” collection up to date. When I topped out at 5.2 I quit – no upgrade possible. Why? I suck at races, I have drilled over and over again but I cannot win. Also, with my special weapons I can hold my own, but in the shootouts I suck too.
Solution: Many games offer alternative routes to the same prize. I.e. adventure games often have different options for the same prize – a fierce warrior wins by strength, a cunning one by wit, a thief by stealth. But in Defiance there is only one path (or almost only one) to get an EGO of 5.9. Give players more opportunities to raise their EGOs and some will spend real money to update their “Orange” collection. This does not take away from the really good players who can do it all, nor is it pay-to-win, but it gives the rest of us a fighting chance. And remember, rising EGO’s can net cash.
    Agree :|

    Cant make the freaking races.
I have like.. 120 points blocked for that.
    Or more.
    Its very frustrating.

And then you have persuits like:

Hey kill the war master. No matter if 20 noobs are feeding him with electric weapons in each ark.
Hey, why you dont do a volge siege stage 20?

    Things like that...

My advice for completing Time Trials (racing challenges):

I suck at driving games and time trials generally so for me doing the time trials was a real labor, many repetitions to get the required times. You need silver reward for area pursuits (like Mount Tam, Marin, etc) and gold rewards for the Pro Racing pursuits.

First, level up your Runners skill (that's the quad bikes). Every skill level increase gives you a bonus. You'll get more speed and more boost to help on the trials. Do this by driving everywhere on a quad bike. Distance driven = driving XP. Go off-road, find hills and rocks to jump the bike over. If you get airborne then stop pressing W and hit A or D and spin the bike. Also do skids by driving fast and hitting space bar and the A or D key. These jumps, spins and skids help level up driving skill.

Second, when you attempt a time trial, do one slow run to start with to get an idea of the course and what encounters are in the way. Then try doing faster runs. I found accuracy is more important than speed. Try to be accurate through each gate rather than fast all the time. Use the turbo boost when you have 2 gates lined up, not when you are off line between gates. As you do more attempts you can work out which gate sections you can do at top speed and which you need to focus on accuracy. A missed gate and having to turn around = fail.

Third, only do the time trial during daylight. It's so much easier to go fast when you can see what's ahead.

Fourth, join a Clan in game that has achieved a Clan rank of at least 2. Clan rank 2 gives +5% vehicle speed bonus to all members, which will increase you base speed when not turbo boosting, so you won't have to boost as much to get the time you need.

I hope these tips help you out.

Ah good...well not for the pc users I guess lol.

I don't feel too bad for you though, pc users get better games since the modding community most times fixes what the devs say is too complicated ie anything Bethesda makes Gotta take the bad with the good.

Sad that online abounds with foolish bs no matter the system though, be great if they were all relegated to xbox *snicker*
