Basically I have a purple Proliferator infector that I found months ago with Grenadier synergy that I didn't make orange for that reason, I would rather have it Cannonner and make it orange for an extra guaranteed 10% firerate. Since it's pretty much impossible to find another purple/orange with Cannoneer Syn.

They won't because of RnG. Why it's even in that listing is beyond me.

Elsewise, everyone would be changing their Wolfs to assassin and all infecters to cannoneer.

I think this is in there as there was a problem with upgrading rarity back when it was introduced. That problem caused the rarity upgrade to be taken away for a few days (if I remember correctly) until it was fixed.
Upgrading rarity could change your synergy back then and it might be in there because of this.

Live Support cannot and won't change your synergy on a weapon though. I am pretty sure of that.

Rumor holds that the developers are considering making it possible to change things like a weapon's synergy or nano effect in a future patch. If they do, expect it to cost mountains of arkforge and work in a random fashion much like resetting a weapon's mastery works.

Remember the first couple of months after launch when Salvage matrix would alter your synergy or delete your gun if you logged out while it was still in the matrix, or are you not old enough Defiance wise? Those were fun times. Servers going down for 48 hours at a time, and coming back to find out gear was gone or altered, or better yet coming back to find character disappeared.
