    Yip, time will tell.

I do agree that internet journalism sometimes seems like it's written by high-schoolers and shouldn't be taken as law.

We'll have to see if any other more reputable sites jump into it!

The article this "article" is quoting is from polygon which states that Trick stated that the game can survive without the show, but now that the show has been renewed for another season it "does not have to face that proposition."

The polygon article doesn't state in anyway the game being in a bad state, suffering, or not going to last or anything negative.

The poster of this linked article is just stating their opinion wrapped around a neutral article from another site and nothing more.

    THIS^^^

    Link to the Polygon article:

I've been meaning to write about this for a long time: what made me pay attention to Defiance was a review written by Kevin VanOrd, on GameSpot, years ago. Usually, people love or hate Kevin for what he says, but I've found the guy to be pretty reasonable in over more than 10 years I've been reading his articles. I tend to trust his opiniions, because they are similar to mine, if nothing else.

I remember vividly that he said "Defiance has a lot of bugs, but if you can get past that, it can be pretty fun". To this day, his words are still true!

I think the reason I cope with Defiance's problems is because I'm a longtime Bethesda fan -- and those games are full of bugs, and those bugs are also more prevalent on the PS3 (to the point Skyrim's DLCs almost didn't make it into the PS3, and even so, they only came out almost an year after the XBOX 360 versions), which I use to play.

I'm not excusing Trion's responsibiilities here. I consider myself a new player, even though I'm EGO 5300, I only started playing Defiance in the last 6 months. In this short time, I saw minorities, lock keepers, encryptions, disconnects, hard-freezes, lags and a lot of other bad things. But I also saw the game improving in many, many ways (especially after Rashere's changes - the jackpot, the Lockbox fine tunnings with Epic drops and removal of unwanted weapons, the reduction in Arkforge cost, better stability and several other tiny improvements that make for an overall better experience), and lately, after it went F2P on the PS3, it's really crowded. I consider the balance is improving towards "excellence", not the other way around, as soon as they can finally figure out how to make the game 99% stable (it's impossible to reach even that, but one can hope). After Silicon Valley, I'm cautiously excited about the future, but I must say I already got from this game much more than I paid for. It's the only game I play in an almost daily basis.

So, as someone said in this thread, I've just written a post longer than the undeniably poorly written "article" in question, that really hurts people who are at least trying to make good on the promise of an excellent game, offering no hard-based facts or knowledge about the issue. Really sad.

Perhaps CM Kiwibird could address the above article directly, I don't know. It feels unfair to leave that piece of shtako as it "owns" the only opinion about Defiance in the internet. Anyone that has a grudge against the game *and* is not reasonable will rally alongside the "article", without giving any facts about it.
