Console concerns

i used to be a ps1 and ps2 fan, then i had to decide between 360 and ps3. I decided 360 and been happy, but im gonna be tempted to get a ps4, esp if MS waits longer then 6 months after sony to launch theirs.
Although it will set me back 500 bones im sure.

After this pre-order, I have no hope or interest in being able to afford a new console. Assuming xbox doesn't shut down the network for 360 (highly unlikely), I just don't care. That said, I hope the new consoles are both backwards compatible. This isn't the 90s. There's no excuse for pulling the "We don't want to be held back by our previous work" nonsense.

Any MMO that is on console will limit size of maps. Now this may change with new consoles. Its a shame to see it on consoles.

Sure there is. The greed factor. If they can use that to force the migration, I wouldn't put it past them to do it.

I doubt they'll shut down the network though. That same infrastructure will support whatever the next gen console is. Even when the game developers migrate to the new platform, people will still be playing their older games for several years yet. MS will still be making money from the subscriptions.

That depends heavily on how it's programmed. Besides, if this were true, it'd also apply for the games lowest possible running specs on pc. Today's consoles are pretty much pcs with standardized components and a custom OS... basically any Apple computer.

same for console as much as pc. thing is the only thing consoles have to handle is what is within there draw distance, given the size of the maps (huge) that wont actually be so many it shouldnt handle easy.

Everybody needs to just chill out bcuz next gen wont be coming out no time soon this year if u read articles they've said 2014 at the earliest, and if ppl are worried about that and its the reason they dont wanna buy defiance then oh well tell em to go play something else its stupid to even be thinking about it if you like the way it looks buy it, all so for next gen u could just as easily buy the game off of the stores cuz im sure they will have digital realese for it

Or they are trying to make the other blink first. It is part of the reason we don't have the cross platform. I wonder if we did a petition to the companies would they considered the cross platform again? Of course it might have to wait till after launch.

In the meantime, i'd strongly recommend the PC over the consoles simply because people are fickle. You would have the strongest chance of a decent player base with the PC version. PC players TEND to be more forgiving then those who primarily play consoles who tend to be a little more critical. At least that is my impression based on reviews of games on the net but that is only my opinion and probably a little biased (I only have a PC).

also im still having the debate of do i get defiance on pc or ps3. if i go ps3 it will be because enough of my friends wil play it and stick with it. however there fickle when it comes to games. (if you are reading this then im sorry but you are ). if there not planning to i might have to go pc, as you so rightly put it, has advantages
