    Xp cap forces pursuits

I guess around 4400 ego I stopped recieving xp for kills and missions. Stuck at 4459 and I am told that the only way to boost my ego is to finish out the pursuits. So what's the purpose of playing anymore if that's the only way to level ego? Just took a lot of the fun away with this xp cap thing. Losing interest very quickly.

The pursuits are part of the game, just as the arkfalls, incursions, and story line missions.

If you were having fun before xp cap was reached, why would you not continue having fun doing the same things?

    Have never understood this complaint...

The fun ,for me, was scoring high and being rewarded xp/ ego levels for achieving that score. Now it's just for show? What's the point in competing for 1st place in events if the only reward you get is gear that you will most likely sell to a vendor? So yeah, my goal was to cap my ego. I have a lot of mini missions that offer xp but it's all for nothing..

Then, sadly, it would seem the game no longer has anything to offer you. Sorry.

I've played nearly daily since July 2013. Never worried about my cap. Hell, for a long time avoided leveling up. Now, I am but at a leisurely pace...

This reflects my thinking on the subject; but I am pursuing every damned thing as I find the Pursuit aspect of the game to be a reasonable goal-oriented system.
    *Edit. Beats farming in WoW
I have also got more character slots to play with. While I do have a "main" I do not mind playing through more than once.

Your not alone losing interest in the game. That's why it's gone and going free to play. People like me come back for special events and play for hours with NO special events....like now. Been on the xbox today for at least four hours and only two hulker ark falls.

The pursuits I can live with, it's the dang pvp requirement that gets my goat.

My endgame fun begins when I can farm for the maxcap gear, I know you can upgrade the gear but it's not the same somehow.

Yes, definitely this -^. I have capped out just barely above 5000 ego and yet to touch PvP (don't plan on starting either). I also don't have the desire to chase pursuits. I just play the game how I feel like and if that leads to a pursuit here and there getting completed that's fine too. Play to have fun! You don't need to be "maxed" level to enjoy the game. I'm taking a little break from actively playing but will definitely be back when the game goes free-to-play. So, play to have fun and don't sweat the "grind". ^_^
    Deliverance lost. Redemption found.

Xbox NA -- In-game name Deikon. Current EGO 50xx. PvP done: None. Main quest done: finally completed (that 4k ego nim pistol looks good to). Side missions left to do: 90%+. Clan: Freemasons. How I occupy my game time....I shoot things, lots of things.

Well, some of the pursuits aren't particularly fun.

Driving pursuits in particular are a problem and/or annoyance for many players. Racing is an ability that is unrelated to the rest of the game, but driving challenges are a part of multiple pursuits. (There isn't much point to racing in Defiance. The only "racing" you ever do is racing to the next arkfall/incursion. Driving itself isn't so much a gameplay feature as it is a way to allow the map to be larger. Plus, the racing events are crippled by any lag, as well as other issues.)

Collecting the data recorders can be pretty boring. This is made worse by the game not giving any hints of where to look, which means you'll probably end up looking at some kind of FAQ/guide for whatever you missed. If you didn't bother looking for them as you leveled, then you can spend a few boring hours fast traveling, driving, and running to do nothing but grab data recorders.

If you haven't been switching between various weapons a lot, then you might have unfinished weapon pursuits that have you grinding long term with weapons that you dislike or hate. (If you hate sniper rifles, then you might dread getting 5000 bolt action kills. Most Sawed Off Shotguns are so bad/impractical for most situations that even getting to level 10 can be agony, with one of the few exceptions being abusing two Couriers with Preparedness.)

One that will probably annoy me is the Pursuit where you are supposed to drive over the 14 bridges. I've apparently missed 3 somehow, and have no clue where to look, because the game doesn't even bother to show me which bridges I've already crossed, much less where I should look for the other 3. I spent time one evening trying to drive over every bridge I could find, but the pursuit details never changed. I can't even tell if the pursuit is bugged.

The Shadow War pursuits are divisive, and may even do a bit of harm. They get more people to play PvP, but PvP is honestly a bit of a design mess even in decent circumstances. The pursuits mean that you also end up with people just idling or ignoring the actual PvP match, just to get their time in.

@OP : Sooner or later you would have reached the cap experience anyway. If there isn't any incentive to play after you reach the max level, then that's the end for you. Or start a different character. Whatever makes you feel better.
