So what do you think of Peter Capaldi? Personally, I think he will be a fine Doctor when he gets settled into the character and the writers write some better stuff for him (I think the writing has been "off" this season). A friend at work thinks he is too "mean" but I think it is more of the Scottish accent that is throwing her off.

I think he's a brilliant choice to play the Doctor. He just needs decent scripts and writers....... This series so far has bee mostly MEH....

Agree 100% on both Capaldi and the series so far. I hope the Christmas episode is decently written or I'll just scream.

BTW: I loved Capaldi in The Musketeers as Cardinal Richelieu. Can't wait for the second series of that to air but Capaldi probably won't be in it because of well, the Doctor.

Unless he leaves early or quits....... I wonder how he feels about the show, and being given bad scripts?

Man, I hope he doesn't quit. We need a gruff Doctor again... just like Eccleston's Doctor. I loved Matt Smith, don't get me wrong, but we need less goofy and more edge. IMHO.

I'll have to see what tonight's episode holds.

I want to see the Doctor go full on dark like he did at the end of "waters of Mars"

A whole series of that kind of doctor would be exciting.

The series 8 finale started off fantastic ruined by a kind of lame part 2 and resolution

Forgot about the Mars darkness. That would be exciting.

I would like to see a while series, or at least half of one, with the "War Doctor" and John Hurt. The Day of the Doctors was too much of a teaser. I would like to see how he and the other Timelords fought their battles during the Time War. And the events that led up to his decision to use "the Moment".

I have last night's episode recorded but haven't been able to watch yet. Dang wife and her (American) football. . Hopefully, this afternoon. Your impression?

    I shall be honest.

Part 1 of the finale was fun, and superb..........

Part 2 was the opposite to that. It did have good moments but it just felt like a whole bunch of random stuff that happens and a loose thread connects them to make a story.

I still feel very mixed about the second part...

Peter Capaldi was a fantastic choice to play the Doctor but he got given really bad scripts..
