Time Trial pursuits are there in the game because driving is a huge part of the gameplay, so one should master driving to become an expert player. EGO rating shows other players how good you are at this Game. So having rating less than 5900 shows that you have some difficulties in compared to other players. It may be because of lack of skill, technical issues or categorical rejection of some game aspects (For me that is PvP in a current state). So it is normal, that people may stop progression in EGO rating at any point.
Playing on PC I've experienced lags during some later months but after recent improves the game looks rather fine in that matter.
When I first tried Time Trials it was a struggle in a form, but the main problem was not the game issues, but my own inexperience of driving runner in this Game and any other so to speak (it was 7-8 years since I've played last Racing). So it took me first 10 tries to understand that I should raise my ingame skill to boost my driving and take some more time to practise with my own real skill (for jumps and turning control). Even after a week I've spent for this, it took me 10-15 runs to complete each of trials with gold.
Recently I've done with exp grind for my alt and start to complete pursuits. What a surprise: most of trials I've completed with gold from the first try, only a couple from 3rd-4th.

There are two main problems - small draw distance, that make you notice obstacles too late sometimes and that runners tend to jump easily.
The first one is the one you can't control yourself. The only thing one may do is to "learn" the track to avoid obstacles - it may require for 3-4 tries. I mean, c'mon you repeat the same incursions and arkfalls hundred times - 3-4 is nothing close to compare.
The second one is your actual driving skill. As it was said, TMW Hannibals are easy to launch in the air, i.e. jump.
One have almost no control in the air apart from vehicle vertical and horizontal angle position when you land. So one should think of their speed and trajectory BEFORE going for any bump that may act as a launch pad. The main rule is "jump ONLY if your trajectory pierces both the closest AND the NEXT after it arch". If not - lower your speed. At least you may change your position for landing: e.g. lift nose a bit higher than rear not to lose speed because of bump, or you may rotate your vehicle back/sideways to return quicker if you overleap a turn.
One should also remember, that you DO NOT have to BOOST all the time to score gold, in fact - opposite. When you boost you struggle with understeer. So use the same rule for boosting as for jumping.
And the last one - have fun.

    The conclusion is:
Either master your actual driving skills, earn a gold and ride Dodge Challenger RT Black proudly, or avoid Time Trials and accept that your EGO shows your rejection.

PS. My choice is the first one for Time Trials and the second for PvP (so I never wear Echelon outfits, but I can live with that). I feel good with EGO 5600 while toping almost in each event I am in - what else should you wish for?

I had similar issues with the time trials when I started them in September. The vanishing (Repo men) vehicle & obstacles appearing after i hit them were maddening- and i said screw it. After the recent fixes, my lag issue is about gone & only rarely does my vehicle disappear around me.

I realized- I'm pretty good at shooting, but i suck at driving in this game (in real life I LOVE to go fast!) some friends suggested i try a n Xbox controller. I ordered one from Amazon & got it on Friday. My first race took 6-7 tries to learn the controller, then I was getting a silver on the 2-3rd time on each race. This weekend I finished all the races except San Francisco- and gobbled up all those ego points from Marin, Madera, Sausalito.

So- it isn't going to help with lag or vanishing vehicles- but a controller does make driving much easier.

I do have to give a special shout out to Harks in our clan (Cronus) for helping me with "Hotshot- sharpshooter savior!" Thanks bud- i owe you.

Some (probably redundant) stuff about getting gold in the time trials:
    • Boosting in the air is not just pointless, it also occupies fingers better used for positioning the quad in the air in order to make a perfect landing: pointed in the right direction and ready to hit the boost once you've landed.
    • Boosting doesn't have to cause understeer; initiate the turn, then immediately apply boost, and you actually turn better. However, sharp turns at low speed + boost can cause a little powerslide that tends to turn you 180 degrees, facing the wrong way. Takes practice...
    • Learn. The. Course. Every course has places where you can save a LOT of time by picking the perfect line. Places where laying off the boost gains time because you can avoid being knocked off course by bumpy terrain. Placers that call for a full-boosted huge jump over time-wasting nastiness. And so forth. Knowing what's coming and having a plan helps a bunch.
    • Think as many gates ahead as you can, depending on the part of the course you're on.
    • Don't be "penny wise and pound foolish." That is, don't focus too closely on squeezing every bit of speed out of a section, only to find yourself unprepared and off of your line for the NEXT section, which usually leads to a mistake that drops you out of contention for a gold.

As for late-spawning gates, well...nothing really to be done other than wait to get lucky and hit a time when the problem isn't in evidence. I've always found that to be variable and completely unpredictable...

This is excellent advice, especially #3 - keep on the same race until you get the reward you are looking for, then move to next

Boosting in the air...i found this to actually help, ok so when you jump you're in the air for ages sometimes wasting much needed time, after reaching apex of jump, boosting will put the quad back on the ground a lot faster than not boosting, there's not much you can do in the air other than lime up landing, so no point spending more time airborne than necessary

If your using a controller 2 things can help with cornering,

    1. When going into a corner, instead of using full steering lock slowly tap the stick in the direction you want to turn, about 3 times per second and you will turn much quicker and tighter, try turning a tiny bit early too it often helps

    2. This takes some getting used to but it's really effective, use the right thumbstick while turning to 'look around the corner'. When done properly it creates the illusion of driving almost straight, makes those dreaded corners so much easier to get round

For the rest of it, be brave, boost all the time and take advantage of the full boost refill when you boost through a ring, chain these together, use your 1st attempt to figure out where not to boost, remember where not to boost youll quickly learn if you boost all the time, boost all the time, I can't stress that enough, don't assume you can't boost round a corner, try it 1st, if its close then you might still make it

Even if you crash carry on, don't restart, its practice for you and you can be a bit braver in the belief you've failed anyway, but make no mistake, some of these trials can still be beaten even if you crash because you boost all the time

Oh and 1 last thing. Boost all the time

Using a mixture of the above I was able to gold all the races in 2 maybe 3 sittings
    Good luck and keep boosting
