As you use any of the different weapons, you will develop skill. Not just a muscle memory brain thing, there are actual perks awarded to your toon as you attain skill on your toon. You should try focusing on one weapon until you have maxed it at 20 skill lvl. I personally feel that ars or smgs are better while you are lower ego, but dont underestimate the power of the right pistol, when you can face someone with it. Another reason I say that you should max out ars early is that, as you get higher in ego the damage curve seems to wain for these weapons and you will probably trade them off for an lmg with a great recoil mod. You will eventually want to reach 20 on all of the weapons keeping in mind that every weapon lvl is a coveted 4 ego points. The best thing to do is pick up one of every category weapon. When you pick up another weapon compare them, first numerically, then practically by shooting things. Once you have determined which is better for you, sell the lesser. The term better weapon is entirely relative and there are are as many opinions on that as there are players, but the actual trick is not to find the better weapon, it is to create the better shooter. Work your perks, advance your skill, raise your ego, That is how you will yield results.
