While I really like the event; I believe the Blizzard during the major adds a good challenge with the white out conditions; however, it seems to be a drag on the servers...getting dc'd much more that usual during these major events. May want to rethink the intensity of these storms.
Second, the other players are correct about the drops; after all, this is Christmas, and you guys are giving the ugly sweater when it comes to decent drops. For example, I continually get the stupid rocket launcher as a final reward over and over, and I score well. You all earn the SCROOGE award for these drops.

Don't get me wrong, I really like the event. The snow is awesome and I love the challenge. And while I have been reading that some people dislike the fact that some players and Volge disappear during the major, I whole heartily support it because it helps minimize the lag that we all have witnessed in past events. I imagine that this effect was intentionally implemented by the devs. It basically creates a battle inside the bigger battle going on around you so that you still have Volge to kill and even though you can't see some of the other players you can see the damage they are doing via the enemy's shield/health meters. As soon as their are less objects in the area to display the other players begin popping back up and when more Volge spawn the system appears to compensate removes things from the display. Being a developer myself, that while it needs to be fine tuned some more, I have to say that it is about the most elegant solution that they could have implemented given the age and hardware limitations of the consoles.
My only real gripe is the inconsistent spawning times of the majors. As I posted earlier there was a huge void of almost 3 hours starting around 5:15PM-ish where no Solstice majors spawned. I believe what this does is queue a ton of players waiting to complete their daily contract to get their present which is in turn is tied to their weekly contract. With so many people at the major it creates wave after wave of Volge spawn and makes it virtually impossible to complete before the time expires. This is what happened yesterday and is what prompted my earlier post. I swear their must have been well over 100 Volge and it became apparent that the closer the clock was to expiring the more players either left or had to extract and then never bothered coming back. When the clock finally did expire there couldn't have been more than 15 of us left.
While I'm disappointed with the outcome of that arkfall I can accept it because it's not supposed to be easy. To be honest it's actually a lot of fun being completely outnumbered by a strong enemy and frantically trying to overcome against great odds. The unfortunate thing is that the Solstice arkfall is tied to a weekly contract that is different then any of the weekly contracts I've seen. The other weekly's that require completing the same task multiple times allow you to complete them at your own pace as long as it's within 7 days. You can do all 5 today, one each day, 2 today and 3 tomorrow, you get the point. The Solstice weekly requires you complete one each day which can create a problem for some players especially if you have to wait several hours for a major to spawn. I assume there a lot of players (like myself) that between work, school, family, etc. can game for a couple of hours on a week night so when there is a 3 hour window with no majors it can make it impossible to complete the weekly and given that this weekly is tied to named weapon it can be quite frustrating. This is why I suggested that they should have 2 majors per hour. It allows everyone a fair chance at completing the contracts and if time expires you can get'em at the next one which is about 30 minutes away.
Luckily for me I was able to find some time before going to bed last night to login and complete a major. The thing is that because I had to make additional time to compete the contract or forfeit the chance to receive a named weapon it becomes less like a present and more like job.
As far as the volge in the rocks goes, if people didn't sit up there and snipe they might not do it as frequently.

I must have missed that that the named weapon contract was going to be available more than once so everyone should just ignore my criticism on that front. Although I still believe that the event would benefit from implementing a more uniform schedule for spawning the Solstice major.
