Simply stopping "open" membership and requiring that accounts be linked to game accounts would solve this problem.

I'm sure you would be getting the boot immediately if this happened. I understand your concern on that part.

That's true, we need more moderators for the forums.

I've been mod for an online game in the past, for over a year... i wouldn't do that again even for 500 bits a day LOL **runs away in panic**

Agree with you Chris - as does just about every other modded forum on the net. I am a mod for two very large forums now and have been for 3 and 2 years respectively.

Both of them follow a tried and tested model. New/Junior mods have responsibilities for sub-forums. Those that stay the course and show a steady hand are invited to become all-area mods - if they wish to and can spare the extra time. They will in turn also keep an eye on the new intake of junior mods.

Over-eager admins or those with a heavy hand don't survive a week.

I agree. I'm a mod on a huge gaming site and I can say it's really not easy. It seems like it would be, but it's not. Almost every day I think about resigning. People can be so mean to each other, and then there's always the... spam in a can.

I agree with wjssmith-stopping open posting would eliminate most, if not all, of the problem.

    "Mean to each other"?!
One of the forums I help mod is a large serving and ex forces forum. They'd spit this lot out without chewing.
