There will definitely not be any community moderators, there is a moderation team that is separate from the community team. There are conflicts of interests and an ability to abuse or at least cause conflict if there is a face to moderation especially from players.

Tougher restrictions on posting is most likely the answer, such as requiring 200 EGO Rating (as on the Rift forums).

Nonsense. Thousands of other gaming, military, politics and other forums manage very well every day with named moderators without hitting the problems you have invented. Why do you think Defiance should behave any differently to the rest of the net?

The ideas on this thread are sensible and only need some tweaking to become a workable plan. At least no idiot has yet (to pick a random hairbrained idea) suggested that we stop new players and those who are thinking about playing from asking questions on here. Oh.

Any one place you claim has good moderation via local poster volunteers I can counter with places were it became a nightmare for people.

You also forgot major clans getting mad at people (absolutely sucks) and having mods in that clan banning that person.

Thats not the worst of it, in theory these "people" could go further into the company, they may or may-not then be in a position the get your personal information, credit cards, full name, address, other **** you don't want your enemies getting there hands on.

mmm nothing in life is free in my book. theres allways a hook. or a catch to it some where doing it for 100 bits a week is just a way to compansate a player that pritty much dosent have a way to get bits them self.

and iv also seen other games do this for there forums.

thy higher on a few of the players as admins for eather there forums or for in the game its self and pay them in in game cash for there time working for them. (( 100 bits a week is cheeepr then some companys pay there people ))

but as for the people worryed about old grudges. and such. thats why you pick from a set pool of indifrent people. i dont care about PVP so i wouldnt be rage banning every one that PVPS and kills me. (( i would report a few of the hackers that i have started to notice )) but beond that the hole point of haveing someone in the community do it is also to open up more ties with the community its self.

i can think of 5 people off the top of my head that would do great for the job.

fuzzy (( she would be fair and just ))

Reb (( he may of hade his problums with trion in the past but he could so it ))

bats (( dont feel like spelling out his whole name )) (( he would be just about things ))

i think you would. over the last year we have been on this forum back and forthing with one another and many others. i have watched you grow as a person and also see how you have come to not hate the devs as much as others.

to you you might not make a good mod . but to alot of the people on this forum that know you and respect you. i have a feeling thy would aprove of you being one.

The fact that one forumite has pissed off another forumite has no bearing on Moderator ability or their ability to remain neutral. As a forum user no one has the requirement to keep their opinions to themselves. Even as a Mod they would piss someone off with their decisions. Hell ever met anyone in charge of anything that didn't piss someone off?

As for people gaining access to personal info I don't even see that as a remote possiblity. Just for the sake of argument, let's say they could. It wouldn't be a drop in the bucket to the number of times your PII has been released into the wild by people hacking data bases. Not to mention, that info is already sitting in Trion's DB. If Trion couldn't control company side access to it, it is too late already.

Edit* Reb, though I wasn't here before your issue, I have seen nothing since your return that would preclude you from being a Mod. You seem level headed enough in your posts.

trion could limit the ammount of access to infermation that a person gets working for them. its not to hard. and if your a mod for a forum. you shouldnt nore wouldnt need access to peoples personel infermation . the only thing you would need access to is the block button or a report button.
