Leeching may be the wrong word because implies a harsher tone than I mean to convey. What I mean by "leeching" is when a player shows up at a contract mission like the daily\weekly contracts like Von Bach, Top Notch, etc. and kill one enemy and then leave and hope someone else comes along and finishes it. I also understand that not everyone with 1 kill is using this practice because I can't count how many times I've been driving by something and run over a hellbug and later on get credit for completing the mission. Anyways, I'm not complaining about the practice because I understand that it can be monotonous repeating the same mission over and over just so that you can level up reputation to fulfill some of the pursuits and sometimes you just want to participate in something else.
The reason I bring it up is because I'm seeing it at the Solstice minors now. I soloed at least 6 minors yesterday and at 4 of them there were 1 or 2 extra names on the leaderboard and I was the only one there. These minors spawned at the edges of the map so they couldn't be accidental drive-bys and since they are not pursuit related (and there for optional) it can't be a monotony thing. The only thing I can come up with is players farming for weapons and mods via the RNG slot machine. I have observed that usually 2-4 Solstice minors spawn at a given time and I was wondering if what some players were doing was hitting each one of them for single kill then hopping to the next.
So, has anyone else observed this and is this a common practice that I am just unaware of?
