This is pretty much what a game forum looks like all the time be it launch or 4 years later. You got the trolls and you got the pixies as a friend calls the helpful people lol.
They could be paying us weekly for playing no matter if server is up and you would still have people who dont read or search for answers writing hate posts. And so on.

There's no degradation. This is how it always is on any MMO forum.
People that are enjoying the game are doing just that. People that are stuck at work / school / whatever are less inclined to talk about how great the game is since they can't actually play it. And when the servers go down? It gets bad. And when that happens during launch? It gets worse.
Give it time. Although, contrary to your point, I've never seen a community with their head so far up a developer's *** when announcements are made.

It's because people are astounded that a developer even posted. Praise the heavens.
That's a depressing standard.
The only positive thing I can say is that I've seen no death threats yet. When the WoW servers go down unexpectedly people actually do post death threats on the forums. It's quite scary.
There are contructive posts that are not all shiney shiney praise like load out swaps and scope magnification levels for ars and smgs. And I think the community as a whole as discussed them in a civil way and put ideas to each other.
But then there are just the stupid posts that are bleeting on about stuff that wasnt in the game anyone who saw the game play videos or live streams would have known. But no these 10 million rpg elements should be in and also we will now be gods and trion must change their progression system.
These are the posts that get replies from people stating they like the game as it was intended. Its not sucking up its just these people understood what they were buying and dont want borderlands 3.0
